Got new Kenda tires put on, went with a 130/70/18 front tire. Fills out the fender a bit better, looks a bit meatier. Bike seems to ride really well on it. While the tires are off I scrubbed, sanded, self etch primed, and painted the wheels. Came out pretty good for a rattle can job. The can's said flat black, but came out more of a satin look I think due to how hot it was outside when they were painted. Here she is.

I'm likin' 'em. I think I'd love 'em with a red, or yellow, or maybe blue pinstripe around the outside just before the bead.

I was thinking of a red "time attack" pinstripe around the edge. May get some thin red vinyl pinstripe tape and see how it looks.
I have my black cocktail shaker exhaust that should be delivered this week going on. Debating on header wrap after those are on. Also would like to do the headlight bucket, but can't decide if I should do the whole thing or leave the outer ring chrome. hmmmm.....

Won't look so hot&sexy after a few months wearing the wrap, if you decide to remove.

I know I wrapped mine and it was a hell of a job to polish and it still shows marks in the crome.

Exhaust wrap. If I was going to wrap my headers, I would find me some buggered chrome ones. The subject bike s headers are still purty, IMO.

How about a used set of ceramic black headers? (shameless sale promotion)

Ah, gotcha exhaust wrap. Yeah, debating on doing a titanium exhaust wrap or just leaving the chrome pipes. We'll see. Wallet has to refill a bit after the tire, painting, exhaust purchases.

Yeah, I did a set of my truck wheels flat black using the Dupont wheel paint and they came out with a slightly textured flat black finish. I forget the brand I used for these, but they came out with more of a smooth satin finish, but also painted them in 95+ degree humid heat. So that may have played a part in it. Although, I think the finish actually suits the bike well. If you powder coat the wheels make sure you take it somewhere that has done many sets. You don't want any material in the bearing journals/hubs for obvious reasons. Also, if they bake the wheels at too high of a temperature it can effect the integrity of the wheels, weakening the metal. Painting can have a great durable finish, but it's all about the prep! Sand, sand, sand (320 grit and then 3M pad), degrease/clean, self etching primer, then about 3 coats of paint.

I have had good luck with Duplicolor engine enamel rattle cans. Painted my rims, triple tree and lower fork legs.

Yeah, head light is on the list. Can't decide if I should do the whole thing though or leave the outer ring chrome.

here's my 2 cents....leave the exhaust, black out the foot controls, headlight needs to be all black, triple trees, and inside of the front rotors. Black always looks good and with a touch of chrome in the right places it will have a "tough vintage" look....
