I have been looking at getting meself some new riding glasses. Been looking at the Road Hog II glasses with the interchangable lenses. Anyone have these? Are they worthwhile to get? Ebay seems to have the best prices. Any input will be appreciated.

Mike I got a pair of riding glasses from a company called Flying Pig eyeware and I love them. I ended up getting a second pair to keep as sunglasses so I would not have to change the lenses but it is not hard to do. If you wear glasses I had my Dr. put lenses in them and it was easy. Lee

I ordered a pair of sunglasses today after reading a review on Cruiser Magazine website. They are called Color Eyes by Performance Eyeware. Non polarized, very thin metal going over ears. Says that they fit and feel good under a full face helmet. I needed a pair because I have had problems getting my regular sunglasses on with the helmet. I don't know anything else about them except the review so I decided to give them a try.

Soren, this is the link to the review that I readhttp://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/accessoriesandgear/hdl3c/index.html The site for the glasses is coloreyes.com. The write up really touted the rose shade along with the comfort for riding. Like I said I really need a new pair and these seemed worth taking a chance on. They are not cheap glasses. Retail ran $200. I did a google search and found them for $109 plus shipping.

Cool thanks for the responses. I'll look into Flying Pig and Color Eyes. A friend also recomended Wiley last evening, told me he has been wearing their glasses for years.

WileyX are some of the best available. A bit spendy, but well worth it for the versatility and quality. Definitely my next pair. web page

Polarized lenses will let you see the road on a dark, rainy day. Cuts right through the glare.
I won't buy sunglasses that aren't polarized.
I have the Oakley Half Jackets, but wish I had the new Bottle Caps instead.

Had to have mine de-polarized - my sunglasses are my Rx, they remade them without charging (which was good since I bought Maui Jims and they are a bit pricey ! ) - the optician said she knew about rainbows and shadows in windows, but didn't think about my helmet face shield - even tho the glasses I bought specifically to fit in my helmet - brought it in to find frames) Couldn't see through my face sheild without shadows from the polarization - it was a very weird experience. There were shadows in my windshield too, but I don't actually look thru it....but very strange. Becky

De-polarized? You sure that's legal? Quote:

Now you know what all those crackheads are seeing when they're high.
But seriously, I like the polarized glasses. When I was up in Elk country, they came in handy on a morning ride when a cow and her calf were about to cross the road in front of me. It just seemed easier to spot them as they were stepping out of the woods next to the road.

I have a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators (prescription lenses), that I had polarized because I'm also a boater/fisherman. They work great on the water, but when I put down my face sheild, I get a strange mirror effect on car and house windows. Kind of a green tint. Charlie

You didn't say if you are talking prescription glasses, but that is where my experience is so here's my take on prescription glasses... My regular glasses are transitions, get darker outside. Since the shield on the full face has UV protection, they do not darken (the darkening is a reaction to UV intensity) and the sun is killer. If you ride with an untinted shield I would recommend getting dark lenses instead of the transitions. I have 2 pair of panoptx goggles, one dark polarized and one clear. Both are prescription; I wear a half-shell most of the time. The clarity of the goggles vs. regular glasses with a shield is a world of difference. I was really impressed. If you go with panoptx or wileyx in a prescription, try http://www.safevision.net for a decent price. They will give you a discount on buying 2 pair if you go the clear/tinted route.

I went with the Wiley X XL-1, went with the Lunar Blue and clear lenses. Best price I found was at http://OpticsPlanet.com. Spent $73 and shipping was included.

I bought some Gaurd Dog over the prescription glasses/ goggles over the weekend.
Got em at the local Harley dealership. They have the best variety of bike acessories and clothing although most of the clothing is Harley trademarked.
They do a hell of a business just selling T-shirts and clothes/ jewelry and boots

Polarized lenses will act funny when looking through most other glasses in front of you!!! If you don't use a windshield they rock. It has something to do with double polorization. Use caution..

I went to a Xerox seminar and they were giving away table prizes. I spotted a pair of sunglasses-non-polarized. Best riding glasses to date!

A friend brought me some safety glasses from his work, along with spare lenses tinted and clear. They look nice, are form fitted, have foam around the edges to promote a bit of a seal, and fit ok w/open face helmet. Not bad for a freebie. Only problem so far is that in high humidity, they fog a bit around the top when you first put them on.

That's exactly the reason I quit wearing a full face helmet several years ago. Then they came out with the flip ups and they're much better.

Word to the wise on the high end mail order & prescription glasses - they look a bit different in 2D on a web page than on your mug. I bought a pair of mail order prescription Wiley X glasses, and while they work well, I'm not too happy with their look. I'll get used to them, but wish I had tried on a pair before I ordered them. Live & learn.
Funny how they look so much better on the models than they do on me
