I think it might be time for a new battery, but I wanted to run this through y'all before going out to get one.

My bike has done this wonderful thing twice where I'll be riding along with the girlfriend (she just got her license) and we'll stop for a few minutes so I can give her some pointers or what not. I'll leave the bike running while we're talking (maybe 5 minutes) and then it just suddenly dies. I'll go to restart it and then battery is completely dead. Not even a slight sound from the horn.

First time it happened I was able to push start down a hill but only one the second try. When it happened yesterday, I pushed it down the hill, got to 15 mph, but the engine wouldn't completely turn over and start; it sounded like it was running weak. I was able to finally get it started by a cop giving me a jump.

I assume that the problem is with the battery because the life has been getting worse in the past few months. Occasionally can't start with the light bar on, battery dies if I start it too many times within a short period of time (makes running errands fun), etc., but I wanted to give the BA.com peanut gallery the chance to chime in.

Have you replaced the battery before? You have an '05, it's probably time for a new one.

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I think the previous owner replaced it; it's not the stock Triumph battery. After posting though, I took a closer look at the battery and noticed that it's starting to expand. Definitely time for a new one.

A load test would eliminate the guesswork.
