Am I correct...I do not have to remove the carbs to rejet on the 04 Speedmaster? I do not intend to mess with the pilot at all just replace the main.

you can try, but the screws are in there tight and they are soft. make sure you have a brand new screwdriver and you may be able to do it with the carbs on. invest in the ss hex screws brent has when you do it

Well technically you don't have to remove them, just pull them out of their boots and tilt to the side. Here's a great "how to" on the job from our very own Dinqua:
Pat's Carb Site

If you get the allen-head carb screw set (NewBonneville.com), you'll be able to reject in the future with the carbs in place. It's a bit tricky, but can be done. With the factory screws, you'll never get them out without pulling the carbs loose for better access.

You do not HAVE to however it will make life easier especially if it is your first time! The screws that hold the bowls on are very soft and can strip easily...many people replace them with stainless (from www.newspeedmaster.com )they are much harder than the stock, however I would rather replace a striped $0.40 screw than risk stripping a expensive bowl. though if your careful (very careful) you can use the stainless...as an added bonus the stainless are allen head, making the need to remove the carbs the NEXT time you jet far less ness.

so NO you do not have to...but YES I would reccomend it...just my opinion for what that's worth

If your bike is fairly new, you should be able to remove the slotted screws holding the bowls on with a small "thumb" screw driver or a socket wrench with a slotted bit in a 1/4" in socket.

I was able to do this fairly easily. But have those allen head bolts from Brent ready when you put them back on.

TBS needles need to be ordered from our dealer? TBS refers to a Triumph upgrade part number? T1241024? Or can I purchase these from Newbonneville?

Get yourself one of these... it is basically a 1/4" drive socket adaptor for screwdriver bits with a knurled hand thing on it. Doesn't ratchet, but it's SOOO handy for tight spots. Like everyone said, you don't need to pull the carbs. Just make sure you are REAL square on those screws with the driver.

That is the correct part number, available via your local dealer, about $8 each. They don't always work though, mine did nothing to improve performance or rideability. (than again, I had no problems)

Thanks Bennybmn. that is a unique little tool. Where did you get yours? It does not look like something you would find anywhere.

My friend who lives in SE CT got it for me, probably the same place Aviator got his

Also, one of those little teeny ratchets that take hex bits would be sweet too (I can't find one online to show right now...)
