This is what happens when you wash a Kia Rhondo in hot water.... It shrinks. Sunday, Laurie and I went to the Scion dealer to look at the Scion TC. I am starting to look for something to replace my Neon since it now has 173,000 + miles on it. After test driving the TC (it was ok, it had an automatic transmission instead of a manual), she saw the IQ and just had to test drive it. She fell in love with it like it was a cute puppy. An hour later it was hers. For a small car, it does get up and go pretty good and handles well. Not to mention it gets 37 mpg. She was only getting 22 in the Rhondo. Since we don't have kids anymore living with us (both of her kids are in California and my son lives with his mom), she is happy to no longer have a "mom" car. The thing has a 12 foot turning radius. You can be parked in a parking spot, turn the wheel all the way and be in the next parking spot over, we tried it. After doing some googling, I found out that it's the same car as the Aston Martin Cygnet. So, she's got a James Bond car in disguise. Time to start looking for Aston Martin replacement front end panels, rocket launchers and machine guns for her car

Good one, erle! (...btw Soren, tell Laurie I think her new car is kinda cool and probably just about perfect for her present needs!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Undoubtedly missing the bespoke interior of the Aston. I think she'll like the iQ and you can't beat Toyota quality. I've got almost 20K on my '11 xD Release Series with zero problems. EPA estimates were 30 mpg and I'm averaging 36, so my guess is that she'll easily beat 40 once the 0/5 oil warms up. BTW, there's an active Scikotics group in your area. www.scikotics.com

Kinda looks the same size as a Smart2... Cute little thing! But I couldn't... camping gear or surf boards or drum kit or... I got too many toys that wouldn't fit in there!

It's a little bit linger an has a wider wheel base. It doesn't feel like it's going to fall over going around corners. it actually handles pretty good for a tiny car.

Handles GREAT! Actually I will likely get a speeding ticket if I don't start using the brake pedal soon. It is just so much fun! Thanks for the Scikotics tip! Already joined! I could say something about the small IQ, but have to admit that was a good one. Letting it slide at the moment, but watch it! Also, it has so much roomy feel inside, I have to keep reminding myself it is not as long as the cars and vans I've driven until now. I can actually fit my Amp and Guitars in the back with room to spare. If I put the seats up, I can also carry a couple adults. I usually have the seat forward to reach everything, so there is some leg room behind me as well. Tomorrow I will be carting some shelving and task mats to Salem for my Mum, and I still have room for all my work stuff. It is great.

Oddly enough, they ran the episode of Top Gear last night when they had to haul large dogs in small cars.
