I may have solved my tailbone issues with my bike (still no good off the bike)..I bought and used for the first time tonight Airhawks "R" cushion that is made just for tailbone pain. I only rode about 50 miles but I was 100% pain free...tomorrow will be the test on a run with some buddies. So far I endorse it without hesitation.

That tailbone pain can be really debilitating. Much much worse than just numb bum that's for sure. In fact having pain like that can be so distracting it becomes dangerous. Glad you found a relatively cheap means of sorting it out.

I had an Airhawk cushion, I found it helped with long journeys but i did not enjoy riding with it as it made me feel I was sitting on the bike rather than in it if that makes sense. I have now had a nice thick gel pad put into the the saddle which so far feels better but have yet to test it on a long run.

After about 200 miles I think I have the amount of air dialed in. Too much and it felt like I was sitting on something unstable. I am still a little sore after a ride but it's a 60% improvement & that ain't bad. I think my next ride will start without the cushion and switch over to it when I need some relief.

I don't use the Airhawk just for relief, I use it all of the time. My 56th birthday is rapidly approaching and it's all about pain management. They have a great product and I would be their poster child. If they could just make them last a little longer. I'm on my 3rd and the weak link is where the fill tube meets the cushion.

I have the Airhawk 2 and it works better than beads, gel pad, sheepskin or anything else I tried to improve the crappy stock seat on my 2011 America. The Airhawk 2 works great, if you just make sure you do not put in too much air. I put in just enough air to feel like the seat is not totally flat, and that seems to make the ride much more comfortable. I'm 69 (today!) and need some more comfort that the stock seat offers, especially for rides over an hour.

Used them on our cross country jaunt last year, and still on trip longer than 100 miles.
