Sorry if this has already been covered but...
There is a loud ticking/knocking sound everytime I ride. I assume its the valve timing. It is consistant everytime I hope on the bike, and the rythem is always constant. It gets super loud as the bike temperature increases. Drowns out my exhaust and other bike exhausts around. Is this normal for our bikes? Is this something to worry about?
btw its on a 2008 America - Carb version, everything stock, removed 1 baffle in each exhaust.
Thanks

How many miles (KM) do you have on the bike and have you ever had the valve clearances checked?

Yes, its normal. These motors can be very tickish or sewing machine ish. Its not a problem just a characteristic of the bike.

The engine in our bikes does characteristically rattle and tick, but not to the point where it drowns out the pipes of you and everyone around you (unless perhaps your pipes are stock and everyone around you are riding Wings).
Live to love, love to live.

the bike has about 7000km on it.
I have never had anything checked on it. I will probably take it to a local triumph dealership and see what their opinions are.
Never hurts to get things checked out I guess.
Cheers,

He said in his original post that his bike is all stock minus one baffle. Not enough to drown out the ticking at speed.
Whils sitting on the bike the sound of your own bike will drown out everything around you because you are sitting on top of the source. Ill bet your friends don't hear it as bad as you do.
You won't do a valve check till about 12000 miles.
If it bugs you get some pipes and ride.

when you drop by the dealer, ask them to listen and consider if the noise could be from the cam chain tensioner.
