My mom was out in her Jeep with her dog this morning when some clown ran a stop sign and T boned her Jeep. She rolled at least twice, maybe 3 times , she isn't sure. Both are OK but it had me worried this morning. Most concerning was the dog pooped in the crash so had me worried she took a shot. My sister was there and said my mom was OK and she told me she was OK herself too. Dog had some blood around her mouth too, after all no seat belt on her. I told my mom she was lucky her dog wasn't ejected. Dog was terrified and my mom was hanging by the seat belt but calmly asked the dog to stay and she sat down and waited for my mom to free herself. As I said in the end all are fine, will probably be sore for a bit but no broken bones, no internal injuries, and no real cuts on either mom or dog. My mom has a swollen hand but that is it so far. I'm sure some bruises will show up in the next day or so.

wow. sorry to hear that man! very glad to hear she, and the dog didn't get injured. sometimes its good to be in a cage.

glad she is ok and I'll keep her in my prayers just to make sure.

That's a big shock Ian. Sounds miraculous that there weren't serious injuries. I hope the clown gets prosecuted. Seems that running red lights and stop signs is common place these days. I mean I see it on an almost daily basis. I always check for idiots when I've got the green light.

Thanx guys , it was a shock. I see it all the time too, some just don't care some are distracted. Had some clown almost run me over a couple weeks ago at a 2 lane turn(2 went straight and 2 turned. Some idiot on a cell phone with it up to his ear on my side was scared he wouldn't make the light so he started to make the turn 2 car lengths before the turn right into my lane. Worst part is I was there! Hit the horn and he corrected. Had a tractor trailer come over in my lane when I was there too a few weeks earlier than that. Hit the horn but it made no difference he just kept coming. I had to turn off onto the shoulder or I would have been under the truck. Seems it is happening more and more.

Damn, Ian. The accident sounds just aweful but I'm glad everyone is OK. People are so distracted nowadays with gadgets of every kind, eating, make-up, you name it. I've had some close ones too in the last two weeks. Both were texters veering into my lane completely unaware of where they were on the road. We all gotta be careful out there.

I'm very happy that most of this will always be a crazy story to tell at family reunions in the coming years and nothing more.

I live in a place where nobody looks, nobody cares about the color of the traffic light and there are absolutely no stop signs at intersections.

Just came back from the hospital where my worker is being treated for a broken femur because a car decided to go in front of her riding path without looking.

I have learned to be just as weary of green lights and red lights the same.

Well next day and some bruises have appeared but head and neck are fine and I was concerned that may have been a problem in time. Both mom and dog are a little stiff too. I count our blessings since it could have been so much worse, the Jeep and other stuff can be replaced.

Glad it wasn't more serious. Hope they both feel better soon.

I'm so glad I moved out to "the bush".I used to run into that stuff every time I took the bike out.
I'd get home sometimes feeling like a fighter pilot who'd just survived a dogfight.
I'm lucky.Where I am now the traffic"s light and I'm back to the mellow type of riding I grew up with. Be careful of the idiots Ian.

I hear ya Paul, I grew up on a farm.I always ride like they are all gonna kill me. I slow some at any intersection and am ready on both brakes, I move to the side of the lane farthest from anyone I am passing, etc.. Couple years ago Wendy and I had slowed to turn onto an on ramp for the highway and guess we weren't going fast enough for a pick up behind us. Well just as Wendy was making the turn the guy went into the wrong lane and passed us on the left, driving in the grass to get around Wendy very nearly hitting her. I am sure we all have similar stories.

Very scary news. The most worrysome idea is that something might develope a little later for your mom, like a back or neck out of alignment. Although, if she feels ok today that is good news. Still, tell her to not sign anything from the insurance co rep for a while, they sometimes try to get that signature as soon as possible to avoid any later claims. As far as the dog, I had nearly the same thing happen to me years ago. Was in a minor fender bender, but shook my little dog up, and he crapped all over the seat. It's gonna be an especially happy Mothers Day for Ian this year!

That same day I saw a car blast through a light at a large and busy intersection - those with the green light must have seen him coming as I can't imagine any other reason why, other than providence, they would not have been in the intersection so long after their light turned green. And that was after I was nearly squashed by a light-on-I'm-coming-now-horn?-I-don't-care-about-no-stinkin'-horn cager making a lane change, through an intersection no less, on my morning commute. The roads are full of idiots who figure it is everyone else's responsibility to keep out of their way.
