We are moving and had to leave all my garage cabinets at the old place. I had simple Coleman knock-down cabinets but I can't find anything similar. So, What do you folks have or would you suggest.
I need to keep the chemicals away from the little one and I also need to have a work bench other than that it is a bit up in the air. Ideas?

The cheapest wall cabinets for kitchens from Home Depot. Simple white, inexpensive...

Home Depot is a good idea, but I recently found the same cabinets cheaper at Amazon.com, but they were on sale.

I watch Craigs list and get the free cabinets when someone remodels. I made a living space in the front of a cargo trailer that way and put storage for my manuals in the garage that way.

craigslist is a very good idea if you don't care what they look like

The ones I got were almost as good as new the people just wanted something different. Only problem was they were greasy on top from being in the kitchen.

I'm not saying they can't be nice, just that if your looking for cheap or free looks shouldn't be very high on the priority list

One of the coolest things about the house we've just bought in Sedona is that the husband of the widow from whom we purchased the home was quite the woodworker, and he had built custom-made cabinets that line all the walls of the garage and a built-in workbench. (...sorry, I hope that didn't sound like I was rubbin' it in here, Johnny) I think the Craigslist idea is probably your best bet, and I know Home Depot does have a number of nice systems, but yeah, depending upon how extensive you wanna go, they can be rather pricey.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I agree and I didn't care what the ones I got looked like. I was just saying that just because they are free doesn't mean they are not in good shape. Thing is you won't really know until you see them in person, pictures can be misleading.

Very nice shelving, I was going to recommend something similar, but cabinet suggestions were ask for. From the photos, it looks like you knew what you were doing. I often build similar shelving, but use 1/2" OSB 2' deep and put the factory edge out. The work bench is cool, did you get the plans or design it your self?

Yep, my suggestion would be 2X4s and OSB; Some latches and hinges. That way you can custom fit it for the space you have available. If DIY isn't an option, then the other suggestions are good. I'm sure that looks aren't a priority for garage cabinets.

You might check with a local contractor or two. When I did my house remodel, including the kitchen I put the old cabinets in the garage. What to do with the old stuff might be commonplace for contractors?

Mac, guess I kinda looked over the 'cabinet" part. I was just thinking affordable storage, and Like I said with a few sheets of plywood you could enclose it and even put on a lock if desired. I appreciate the complement on it, just kinda pulled it outta my butt. Only went 16" on the depth because of the garage door railing. The table is a design I found on the net, really simple, easy and useful.

Johnny,
You have a Habitat for Humanity in Witchita and they usually have a retail store called "Restore" that sells used but good condtion building materials and supplies along with similar new items donated by local builders.
You may find some good cabinets there and the money you spend goes to build additional new housing for lower income folks who are willing to put in sweat equity for the opportunity to become home owners.
Good luck and ride safe!

Bluto, that's a good idea, you got me thinking. I would check salvage-demolition outfits, Wichita is large enough to have one. With McConnell AFB (no relation)there might be a base surplus outlet.

I bought the steel framed shelving from Lowes that is 4 high. If you need to enclose you can plywood around it and bolt right to the existing frame. I have two sets with a workbench (govt surplus butcher block)between the two and a coupple 2x4's across the top over the bench to add a shelf and hung the lights for the bench from that. ---2x4's--- --- --- --- --- ---bench--- hope that helps. this was the shelving http://www.lowes.com/pd_101933-1281-CR48...&facetInfo=
