Wondering if it is known what could have been in place of the blanking plug on the right controls just above the starter button? I am sure Triumph used the same casting on a number of bikes. It would be nice if I could find a switch for that location

i believe that the general concensus has been that it's where the headlight switch lived before it was always on.

Yep, here ya go, Rob. Friar John, our Admin around here, started this thread just the other day about this very subject... http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...0&fpart=all
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Or apparently still lives in some non-US markets. From the other thread the last post said "...right switch has 3 positions off, parking light, headlight.....anyway my 2001 america has."
I found a comment that said "US Federal law dictates any new bike made after March 1980 has a headlight which is always on." and another that said in California the always on headlights were required from January 1978, so there's not much need for a place for a headlight switch since 1980 unless it is used in other markets.
So...any UK guys willing to buy some switches for us US folks who want a convenient driving/fog light switch? I don't think we have a parking light position either; seems that is more a narrow street parking European thing.

I'm fine with the setup as is, i'd find some other use for the switch. Garage door opener... ejector seat.... something like that. So yeah, i'm in.

I don't believe they are even available for outright purchase in the UK anymore. If they are available, it's only for original UK bikes that left the factory with them installed.

I would love to find one for the driving lights. Shame they did not hold the part in inventory. Seems like it could be used a number of ways.

Does anyone know if the indicator switch from the other side will fit? Probably come up with some interesting applications for that... like a garage door opener and an ejector seat.

Mine has a "parking light". On the ignition key turn it towards the front (I think) and it will turn on your rear "parking" light. I could be wrong about the direction.
