A few years ago, I started a thread called:
Operation: Sav-A-Newbie.
The idea was for all of us to share our experience with new riders.
It was a big hit, Everybody helped, many Newbies were grateful for the help.

I decided to take it to Facebook.
I started a page called Operation: Sav-A-Newbie.
Here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/OperationSavANewbie

Those of you on Facebook, please log on & like the page.
While you're there, leave some of your wisdom behind.
I'm also looking for photos of Safety Gear that has been through a crash with you.
Jackets, boots, gloves, helmets, just the gear though, no Hamburger photos.

Thanks,
Brian

Good idea. When I got my first bike as a kid(Suzuki GT 380) an old codger on a chopper took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. Looking back he was probably a 40 year old burnout.

He was NOT the best influence I've ever had.

Liked it on my Motorcycle Therapy and Bikers Have More Fun Than People Do pages. When you get your "About" info updated on your page, I'll share a link to it too.

Did he teach you to "lay 'er down?"

This is a great idea. The only problem I see is the promotion of misconceptions. In other words, I see the same arguments about loud pipes, helmets and other issues. At least there will be arguments from both sides that will let new riders understand the factors and hopefully, come to a reasonable conclusion (aka agree with me ).

Good post here, Keith!

(...and I also wonder if that ol' codger told Chet about how "usin' that there front brake can cause a guy to flip the bike right over" too!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
