4/20 while riding in MA, went down on a sharp corner almost made the curve but hit the sand in opposite lane and went down. Ride 35 miles to home went to local ED, they told me and my wife no broken bones, I was in a lot of pain, 4/21 Radiologist from hospital called three broken ribs. Lots of pain out of work for two weeks, bike is amazingly OK, scratched front fender and bent brake pedal. It is painful to do anything, coughing is very painful, getting in and out of bed very painful. At first wife wanted me to sell America ASAP, guess I have a second chance or accident. Will go much slower in rural areas from now on, Your thoughts, RIDE SAFE, Jonathan

Glad you're okay for the most part. They say there are two kinds of riders; those that have crashed and those that will. I'm still one that will I guess.

Had my first mishap recently and came away just a little bruised up. Ribs suck...been there done that. Hope you mend fast.

Evel Knievel may have broken more things than me. Maybe.

Most of my misadventures were on mountain bikes, though.

I crashed pretty hard quite a few times over the years but luckily I have never broken anything that way. Had some pretty bad road rash though.

My thoughts?
Damn that sucks.
Glad that you're not hurt worse though cracked ribs are rough, I know I've had 'em a couple of times

Bike's not too bad either and you learned something.

With practice, you can hook the toes on your outer leg under the edge of the bed and get up without an awful lot of pain.

What takes a lot of practice is resisting the instinct to tense up and make it worse when you move wrong and it hurts.

Jon, I've had broken ribs many times, try sleeping sitting up in a comfortable chair, don't cough or laugh.

Everyone should be careful this time of year till the heavy spring rains wash off the DOT sand ad salt.

I had two broken ribs from a bike spill.

Have you sneezed yet? That's a wonderful experience.

They take a long time to heal but they WILL get better.

Glad to hear it wasn't worse. If you lived relatively unscathed and learned something from it, ya done good my man. Stay safe and don't give the missus a reason to worry. Life is precious and short... savor the moments.

The one time I've dropped a bike was sand across the road. Fortunately no broken stuff, however the damage to my helmet changed my mind about them. Glad to hear you're OK inspite of those ribs.

Lots of winter stuff washing over the roads with the spring rains, I've learned to be careful on that first pass over familiar roads.

Try to limit sneezing, coughing and laughing for a month or so...at least that's how long my busted ribs tortured me. After that it's just like it never happened.

Sneezing. Don't do it. Ever.
