Smokey, you're talking my language.
We're hoping to put down stakes over the TN state line. We love the riding in VA/TN/NC!

If you have kids the schools systems in East Tennessee are pretty sorry. NC and VA are OK.

The schools are not an issue for us.

Eeh! Whaddaya talkin' about, Chet?! I hear the Earl Scruggs' Academy of Banjo Playing there is just about the best in the country!!!

(...uh huh, they say by the time a kid finishes their studies there, he or she can do a pretty mean "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I live less than an hour away from the Dragon and have no interest whatsoever in riding it; its just a place for all the flatlanders to show how little they can actually ride; the locals stay away, the fuzz are also out in full force near there too so uhhh WHY?? ya know...28 is fun but as you can see from the link I'm posting, it can get ya if you get too overconfident. The video is of a friend of mine from Florida who thought he was cool, then the Good Lord showed him how uncool he really was haha that's me with the big Darth Vader helment at the beginning

Wreck occurs at 12:18 if ya get bored and wanna skip to the action LOL

Yeah, I live in orlando, and I don't go to Disney/Universal

Funny how no one will vacation in their own back yard.

Looks like he could have easily made that corner. Looks like he panicked and braked and stood the bike up in the corner. But easy to say post mortem.

Yeah, maybe it is "easy to say post mortem" here Richard, HOWEVER what I was thinking BEFORE the crash was somethin' along the lines of: This kid should learn what the term "LATE APEXING" means and PRACTICE that procedure ALL THE TIME, 'cause THEN he most likely would have NEVER gone wide on ALL those left-handers(especially) which I saw him doin' the whole time I was watchin' that video.

(...in other words, he was taking the wrong freakin' line in just about every turn in the road there before the crash!)

I noticed that too, sloppy riding

Hey Lee, I have another and alternate suggestion for your crash-prone friend here:

Tell him to sell that sportbike there, and to go visit his friendly neighborhood Harley-Davidson dealership in his home state of Florida.

Uh huh, ya see I say this because from what I can tell after gettin' stuck behind YET ANOTHER long line of folks who ride H-Ds around here in northern Arizona in the Mingus Mountain twisties yesterday, few if ANY Harley riders have a freakin' CLUE about this whole "Late Apexing" thing either!

BUT, the GOOD thing about those doo-rag wearin' folks is that AT LEAST they appear smart enough to know to ride VERY VERY slowly around twisty roads on their big-assed lumbering motorcycles, and thus negating the need to EVER learn LET ALONE practice that whole "Late Apexing" procedure which I've just mentioned!!!

But a beauty of a dismount!

Looks like 90% of the roads in SW PA. I don't get the draw. I love the ridge and the smokies but not for the bends - just the pure majesty. Just sayin'...

Credit to my friend, he rode his bike up from Ft. Lauderdale (something I've never had the tailbone to do), and he's only been riding a few months, so guts he has haha @Dwight, he's not really a Harley kinda guy (but then again, who REALLY is haha) @ Pipedr, that's EXACTLY how I feel, I don't go over about 40 mph at any time, I'm too busy lookin at the beauty of the mountains, I could care less about the twisties, when ya grow up here its just kinda boring, guess I'm gettin old haha (that dang music's too loud too sonny!!) last year I rode to Topsail Island, NC and WOW i tell ya, straight roads but the beach view and the sunsets were incredible!!

No JR, but come to think of it, a Barcalounger might be nice to have in my old(er) age!

(...seeing as how there's not much of a difference between those two aforementioned products, of course!)

With picking the proper line one must consider the entry, apex and exit. You want a smooth entry then slam it in there until you hit your maximum late apex point so you can make a clean straight exit. A premature apex will significantly diminish your overall riding experience.

Somehow, when you put it that way, it sounds... suggestive.

Nah JR! THAT just lowers your standards...especially around 1:30am and when the bartender yells out, "LAST CALL!"!

(...and I'm NOT talkin' about ridin' a friggin' motorcycle around any hairpin turns here EITHER, of course!!!)

Yeah, I forgot that the "Standards Scale" doesn't usually go into negative numbers, huh!
