The Cove linky This is an area I normally stay away from, lots o tourist. It has been a few years since I road through the Cove, freshly paved a couple years back and it was desperately needed. I headed out early and was on the loop road by 10:15. The loop is reserved until 10:00 am on Sundays for bicyclists. turns out I hit it just right. There were times I could not see another vehicle on the road in either direction, very surreal as it's is normally crawling with cars, etc. Managed to catch sight of few dear and one bear cub.The first place I pulled off there were two young doe within 15 feet of the road, they saw me long before I saw them. Here are a few cell phone pics,It was a nice day. [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image]

Hey, I was there today too!

Last time I was in the Cove was when Shaun was Stateside on his America. Years ago I attended a wedding at the primitive Baptist church there.

Nice pics Mike - good time of day too. Wildlife still out and about and no "slow crawl" practice.
That day I was just over the mountains in your fourth pic - I met up with a couple of friends and their friends and did Knoxville to Townsend for breakfast, Foothills Parkway to 129 where we made a couple of runs then to the Tail of the Dragon Resort for lunch, left at Moonshine 28 to Fontana, back over to Robbinsville then the Cherohala to Tellico Plains, then 360 to Vonore and back home.
