Ha. Jusy did this very thing a week ago when my jack broke. I started at a point just outside my garage and cleaned, pushed, cleaned, pushed, clean, pushed until I nearly reached the back end. Not sure how far but it was many feet - Each time moving my stuff. Then reversed the movement all the way out and appling the wax as I backed out. It was time consuming but really not that bad. I'm sure there must be an easier way but I wasn't expecting the jack to break

Its very stable You probably already know, but it can't be said enough times, DO NOT use the engine to rotate the wheel while cleaning your chain

$20.00 Bike Lift
Take two 2x10's, about 4 ft in length, fasten them together side by side ( making one 4x10 4 ft in length). Drill a hole through both boards near one end, stick a pipe in it.
Google it: $20.00 Bike Lift
Best investment I've made.

It's best to adjust the chain without lifting the bike at all.

+1 I use a straight edge (actually, my 4' level) placed against the outside sidewall on the right side of the rear tire, front and rear, as close to the axle as possible, and sight it up with the chain. This won't change whether the bike is straight , leaning, sideways, or upside down. This after the chain tension & tire alignment is closely set by feel/eye. I don't clean the chain, just add motocross lube once or twice a year. (and I use the "creeper" method for that.)(Creeping down the drive, one foot at a time )
And you may see me tonight
