If anyone wants to come down on the Friday, there's free camping with on site bar available in Burton, which is approx 10 mins from the wall

My phone was on silent so I didn't see the email for about half an hour.
Looks like I'm order number 3500+ and not setting out from Drayton Manor.

Dunno.
I'll see my number when it comes through.
Aren't there about 4000 or so attending normally? Seems a bit quick for 3500+ to have registered in the first half hour. Or at least in the half hour since my email came through

I'll probably registar Sunday, can't be bothered to look for credit card before then

I'll more than likely camp over at the bar I was on about and go down with that lot. Come with if you want, I'm not sure but there's a good chance breakfast will be served (not for free though).
I'll post more details about that as I find out more

I've looked at my RTTW order again and it looks like I inadvertently booked to start at Drayton Manor.
I'm not sure what that 3500+ order number was then because, like last year, they are limiting numbers to 850 from there.
I thought it was a bit odd that so many had registered in the first half an hour since getting the email considering there is (was) something like 4000+ in total *

*Based on 2010 attendance figures estimated at time while standing on a hill overlooking the area, numbers and investments may got down as well as up

I wish it was 4000. Not that many yet but hopefully we will get there soon. Don't worry about the registration number

Me too.
If I recall, wasn't it, like, August / September last year before registration opened and just a couple of weeks before the ride that pins etc arrived?
They have gone back to headlight stickers this year to identify DMP registered riders. I said last year that that wrist band thing was daft and surely must've cost more than iddy biddy stickers.
I'm guessing leaving it late last year they were up to their necks in distributing stuff so they are getting ahead of themselves this year.

On 1 May 2004, Beharry was driving a Warrior Tracked Armoured Vehicle that had been called to the assistance of a foot patrol caught in a series of ambushes. The Warrior was hit by multiple rocket propelled grenades, causing damage and resulting in the loss of radio communications. The platoon commander, the vehicle’s gunner and a number of other soldiers in the vehicle were injured. Due to damage to his periscope optics, Pte. Beharry was forced to open his hatch to steer his vehicle, exposing his face and head to withering small arms fire. Beharry drove the crippled Warrior through the ambush, taking his own crew and leading five other Warriors to safety. He then extracted his wounded comrades from the vehicle, all the time exposed to further enemy fire. He was cited on this occasion for "valour of the highest order".

While back on duty on 11 June 2004, Beharry was again driving the lead Warrior of his platoon through Al Amarah when his vehicle was ambushed. A rocket propelled grenade hit the vehicle six inches from Beharry's head, and he received serious shrapnel injuries to his face and brain. Other rockets then hit the vehicle, incapacitating his commander and injuring several of the crew. Despite his life threatening injuries, Beharry retained control of his vehicle and drove it out of the ambush area before losing consciousness. He required brain surgery for his head injuries, and he was still recovering in March 2005 when he was awarded the Victoria Cross. He has suggested on at least one occasion that he would return to military service if physically able to do so

Great day again and lucky with the weather.
Organisers estimated 15,000 bikes.
Good to meet Paul, Jahel, Bryn and his daughter (who's name I sit don't know!!).
Cool fly by from a DC3 (sorry pic is crap, it was on the phone - supposed to be 8MP!).
The pilot looked to be having fun chucking it round a fair bit.

This is bigger every year.
Well done the organisers

It was truly a humbling experience, especially when 15,000 bikers stood in total silence for the last post. I'll be back next year, sadly no doubt there'll be more names added on the wall. Hopefully this link works or check out the OFFICIAL RTTW Ride to the wall group on facebook page for loads of great pics of the event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVBv6n26l5E&feature=share

My photos of the day. Includes some from the night.

Two cameras were used which is why they're a bit jumbled

http://s1023.photobucket.com/albums/af352/brindle_bucket/RTTW%202012/

In case you're wondering, this was the band on at night. There was another band on earlier but they were crap
