Just wondering what you guys think. My tank is blue and silver two tone with blue fenders.I ran last year with out a fender on the front because of the 21 wheel.I finally bought a demon fender to fit my wheel and i had some small scatches on my back fender so i fiqured i would get both painted. Im thinking of painting them to match the silver in the tank any thoughts on how it would look.

I say stick with the blue with the silver being an accent color. If you do silver fenders it kinda messes up the flow if you ask me. That or you could always change the color completely Just my opinion, it's you that has to look at it everyday, do it how YOU like it

Okay guys! I know I remember seein' somebody around here with a VERY nice lookin' blue and silver(or maybe it was ivory?) paint job like what Rob is talkin' about here. It had the silver(or ivory) crescent accent comin' off the front the front fender and sweeping back.
(...who's bike am I thinkin' about here???...I think it even had the whole front end of the bike blacked-out like Rob's too!)

Personally if I was replacing my front fender I would go for chrome for the retro look.

+1 I agree, paint all yer tins Black ...they is the fastest. Oh and add as much chrome too, makes a black scoot even faster by another 20%! Seriously, stick with blue on the fenders if you keep the silver accent color on the tank fer sure. IMHO

I think it will look fine. The original 04 Thruxton had a black tank with black/white/silver checkered stripe, the fenders silver, it looked cool. Most old Triumphs had chrome fenders, so silver is as close as your going to get without spending a ton of cash.

Blue with silver accent on the sides of both fenders. Or flat black the whole thing from a spray can. Or you could go red oxide then grey the flat black use fine sand paper to wear away the black and grey in some areas to look as though it was black but the paint has been worn off and some bare metal has been rusted and other parts have been kept bare by continuous wear.

I think in a way the black Triumph look is sort of recent history. I could be wrong, I'm not a historian. When I think of Triumph I think of colours (that was for D). I can't remember a black Triumph tank till like the mid-70s, T140V and the Special.

Blue with about a two/three inch stripe down the middle of both fenders, perhaps even a thin white pin stipe seperating the two colours.

Yep Marty. I think I'd go that route too. Simple, and as Mac mentioned above, in keeping with the tradition of Triumph paint jobs of yore.

bedliner!
I had the bed of the F-150 done and I got to thinking about doing the whole Jeep exterior, they wouldn't do it. But, bike tins?

I'm sure there's someone who will do it if they won't take your money. Saw a baja bug once that was completely Rhino Liner lined. Very interesting. Who has the reddish-orange bedliner coated BA?

I have not checked around, but im pretty sure if you dig around your town, you can find a guy who paints in his garage. I must have gotten lucky cause I bought the imron paint kit, and after calling around and getting the same quotes,,, I was able to find a guy who did it for 50 bucks and it looked great! I am looking into buying some paint guns and this paint kit from duplicolor : http://www.duplicolor.com/products/psFinishSystem/ I want the emerald green met, with the prism coat and the clear. total paint and primer cost 100. I know I need the sealer, and strainers, but have access to a bunch of that stuff. Need to call and see if they do or dont recoment the prism coat for the darker colors.

Line-X wouldn't do it. Said they weren't equipped. I think the guy I talked to was just lazy. I thought it would be fun.

I think it works! Maybe a little flair on top of the rear fender to tie in the blue. I had this guy do some pinstriping on a GL years back. If anything, he's gotten better. http://www.chriscruz.com

Here is what I did...it was taken from a paint job that was used on factory Triumphs in the mid-sixties. This website provided the idea for me.... Link Two different angles of the bike to show the stripe...After a couple of years, I am still very pleased with the result. Steven

Yeah, It DOES look great! That's one thing I like about these bikes, you just CAN'T "F" one up, no matter WHAT you do. (Unless, of course, you just strip the fenders and EVERYTHING off.)
