Listed all over on e-bay. Anyone have this type of saddlebag? Are they worth anything?

If its anything like the bufflo leather chaps or jackets, no! The "leather" was very thin, and was pieced and stiched together like it was made from many small scraps of leather.

Really? My buffalo leather jacket and chaps are THICK. No patches or scraps (and my chaps are 5xl and jacket is 4xl - their sizes ran way small). Everyone I've talked to say they're better protection than cow leather (but maybe not deerskin).

The stuff they have on eBay goes for $20-30 an item. I am betting you paid a little more than that, right?

I almost bought a pair of buffalo leather chaps, but a buddy of mine told me to check out some at a leather shop at the mall. I did. I'm glad I did. I didn't order them.

Just a wee bit. But they weren't outrageous.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but what's with the Red Name and the "A" flag?? Just curious.

Some would think the 'A' stands for something else

Like you got room to talk FJ? I have a COACH buffalo leather wallet - a LEXUS ELITE award in 1999 - all dealership employees get to choose an award - a jacket, or wallet, or luggage, etc. each year the dealership earns the prestigious "ELITE" disignation. I've been impressed with how well this "Buffalo Leather" has held up, and how cool it looks. Buffs to a beautiful shine, and is a very rich brown color. I'm hard on wallets, and never had one last this long before. It does have a small hole worn through one corner, from too much crap in the wallet, but that hole has probably been there 3 years, and hasn't grown. I've learned to "inventory" occassionally and weed out the unnecessary stuff. They haven't offered a wallet since, as an ELITE gift, but I would do this one again, given the same choice (Buffalo Leather).

Dog, I bought the jacket last year that is made the same as these bags. I've had no problems with it, but, it surely is NOT 'top-of-the-line' stuff. If you're lookin' for something to get you by - it works. If you're looking for a more permanent fixture, I'd save my money. Case in point - If you NEED a set of bags for an occassional long jaunt, and you'll only mount them when you need them they'll work. If you're the type that prefers to have bags mounted at all times, they probably will struggle to outlast the elements. They are thick, they are heavey, but they are also pieced together from what seems to be left-overs of a better product. I think the most likely point of failure is the stitching. And, if you can man a needle, that's not something that will stop you from using them. You can look at it this way - I paid $30 for a jacket. I already got a year of problem-free use. If it falls apart tomorrow, the loss is mimimal at most (and I'll have a ton of scrap pieces of leather to play with, too
