So, after avoiding having to go to Nashville for 4+ years my luck ran out. On the other hand, 4 days of riding (I know 600 miles is within the range of some for a days ride, but not me, so two days each way) should make it worthwhile. Here's the route I am thinking about: Leaving the 22nd, working in the Nashville office Tuesday through FRiday morning. Planning on returning via St. Louis, probably stay there Friday night, back home Saturday. As of now the weather looks great for the outbound leg, with a little luck it should be a nice, relaxing ride.

If you're headed there for work, splitting up the route is a good plan. Otherwise you really do risk being to worn out to do the job, unless you could get an extra day to rest.

SR W is a twisty beast and is Just SW of 52. Okay so I changed your route, mainly the ride from KS to TN, just some twisty, sweepy, scenic roads is all. I liked how you check the 'avoid highways' box too! Route modified vis-a-vis motorcycleroads.us.

Thanks Moe! Interestingly enough that takes me right by some land my father-in-law used to own outside of Fredricktown, MO. I used to deer & turkey hunt there, back when we lived in St. Louis. Some of the other changes look interesting too.

You're welcome Mark. The only issues with altered routes is the navigation. The smaller the lines on a map, the more intricate the directions. Do you have a navigation device? If so you can convert Google maps to a gpx file for import into same. MotorcyleRoads.us GMmapToGPX Google Chrome is a PITA to use when it comes to the GPX conversion utility. I still haven't figured out that one yet. So I'll use chrome to lay out the route, then copy the route link to a firefox browser for conversion.

Yes, I've got a nuvi 1490. I'd seen the GMap to GPX conversion page before - but definitely appreciated no having to go look for it. I broke it up into going and coming routes, and have both saved on the card, and made sure they imported.
Again, thanks! I'm really looking forward to this!

The GPX conversion routine creates billions of waypoints. Not a problem if you heads up ride. Map source is a Garmin routing software that allows one to manipulate GPX files. Using Mapsource not only allows one to remove all these extraneous waypoints but allows one to verify the accuracy of the conversion.
A route in memory (imported) taxes your gps overhead. Slows up the recalculations etc. One or two routes in memory are fine. More than that are not. If the GPS blinks, the routes in memory are lost. Thus you having the routes on a card is perfect. Import as needed.
Enjoy your commute today Mark. You've got a chilly ride today!
