hi about to do the charging mod on my 2002 america can anyone tell me about it on the rat forum they say to join the two rednblack wires from harness side of plug from rectifyer, but my bike only has a brown wire (live) and black(earth) coming from the plug harniss side, do i just connect my thicker gauge wire to these two ,with an inline fuse on live , strait to battery terminals, checking to routing of the brown wire on diagram this wire runs to no 11 fuse, and number 2 fuse for ignition, can anyone tell me if this is the right mod the pic of moes bike in VAULT electrical page 2, shows hes cut into black n red wire ,which is straight from retifyer before it goes into plug , thats when it changes to brown when it exits the plug into harness, have asked him but he dosent know any help appreciated kevin

The connector is the weak link and the mod means to bypass it by jumping straight from the black w/ red to the battery. Usually this means splicing a wire onto the b&r so you don't disrupt the parallel path to the ignition; since I haven't done this I don't know where the feed splits. One might be able to withdraw the b&r from the multipin and jump to the battery just by using a better spade terminal.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

thanks roadie, Sorted, half hour job, i tested voltage at reulator side (black red) wire, and then on other side of plug (brown) wire, same so connection was good, as its hard to get to the b/red wire from regulator , i spliced into the brown, connected a thick starter type cable to this , and inserted a 30 amp fuse inline, strait to live on battery, this is my results= BEFORE MOD battery 12.90, ign on 12.75. running at idle 13.60 slight rev up 13.65, AFTER MOD done == battery 13.00 ign on 12.90 running at idle 14.50 slight rev 14.80 v thats a nice 1.20 volt increase in charging. neutraL lights bright NO FLICKER thank you for your advice , recommend this mod to anyone, when you look at ratnet forum it seems confusing because he does it on a 2004 daytona joining two wires together both on live and earth, but our americas speedmasters are easier, 1 wire no cutting plugs off and i fuse holder with 30 amp blade fuse, yeahha

That isn't my bike. Actually I believe it to be roadworthy's! I've yet to do this modification on any of my rides. I should do it for the 07 now as it will be the trekking machine replete with a power pig tail for heated gear. Thus the need for the electrical hop up.
