I need to swap out my toe shifter and not certain how to do it. Thought I would ask for the correct way before I just started taking stuff apart and winging it.

When I removed mine I backed off the shifter jam nuts then un-screwed the shifter rod. Then removed the toe shifter bolts...put stuff on in reverse order....one time got fancy and removed the shifter first and bent the shift rod at the threads was able to straighten it back

Thank you Karl! Instructions follow:

Here's the step by step....

1) Remove the C-clip from the foot peg wrist pin & remove the pin. A pair of needle nose pliers works great for pulling the clip off the pin.
2) You'll need an 8mm allen wrench or 3/8ths drive 8mm allen socket to remove the cap screw bolt that hold the foot peg mounting plate to the control bar. Remove the cap screw.
3) When you withdraw the cap screw the shifter arm should drop/slid right out along with the spring shim and pivot bushing.
4) You'll now need a 10mm open end wrench. There is a nut on the shifter rod that locks the shifter ball joint onto the threaded end of the rod.
5)Put the wrench on the nut and kinda hold it in position on the nut whilst holding the nut in position on the shifter rod and turn the shift lever (using the lever itself as a fulcrum)counter-clockwise to loosen and unthread the ball joint from the rod.
6) reassembly is the reverse of this disassemby.
Note: make sure you a) lightly grease the shifter bushing & b) don't pinch the spring shim between the footpeg mounting plate and the bushing. the shim goes on the outboard side of the bushing and should fit over it.
7) you may wanna start the bike and select thru the gear range with the clutch engaged just to make sure it is shifting correctly.
