Ok, we have a ton of very talented folks on this site. Here is what I want. First, I want a "day" bag fabricated out of the passenger pillion. I'm thinking it needs an expandable section in the middle to make it twice as tall, maybe three times as tall (when expanded). I'm thinking a zipper going all the way around to permit the expansion. It would also need a zipper going around the top to access the contents. It should be big enough to hold a rolled up pair of jeans, t-shirt and socks (for quick overnighter) or a rain suit and camera... you get the idea, small and compact. With the standard mounting hardware it should be a breeze to take on and off.

Second, I would like some polished billet aluminum storage tins made to look like the chrome (solid) rear peg hangers. The backs should should be deep (kind of milled where they shape around the swingarm) in width they shouldn't look like they stick out on the sides any further (or not much further) than the peg hangers. Should be key lockable where you could put your valuables or compact side arm in it. Or maybe a tool kit.

Those are some interesting ideas.

Bluebass had some. I don't remember who made the bracket though. Angelis745 maybe?

I have a classic toolbox on mine, but no footpegs. It probably wouldn't be hard to make a revised bracket to mount a peg.

That gadget box on the left is exactly what I'm talking about! However, I don't want a bracket to mount it to then attach that to the bike. I want the box to mount directly to the holes for the peg hanger (again this is a wish list right)... wish big!

Now about that passenger pillion day bag, somebody has got to have some ideas? If I were handy at all I think I could actually come up with what I'm talking about. Come to think of it if I had a C&C machine (and knew how to use it) I could come up with the gadget box too. I'm thinking of modeling one with some styrofoam and taking it to a local shop that has a C&C to see what they can come up with.

Can you rough sketch said bag with dimensions and all the stuff you want? I can pass it along to a friend of mine who spent his navy career making all kinds of stuff. Helmet bags, repairing parachutes ect. He is now worknig canvas fab. He has the skills. LOLOLOL

Any canvas company or auto upholstery shop should be able to do this. But the one off cost would be expensive. It's fun speculating, but wouldn't it be cheaper and less an obstruction getting on and off the bike just to get a magnetic tank bag. Some expand to be huge.

Oh I have a tail bag that gets huge! Mac, I have a small tank bag for odds and ends that is very handy but for what Don wants, I think your right. chase harper makes this
http://www.motosport.com/cruiser/CHASE-HARPER-950-EXPANDABLE-TANK-BAG

or first gear

But If Don wants custom, he can still send me a sketch,,, But Don from experiance, the materials for a one of,, will be the most expensive part.

I designed and made a set of boxes like these from billet aluminum several years back. sold them to someone on the rat.net
I probably have a drawing somewhere.

Your pillon bag sounds like the sport bike tail pack that i picked up. Expandable, with a few small pockets, doubles as a lower back rest, has a waterproof cover you can pull out, 4 built in bungie cords to tie it down as well as a strap you can wrap aroung the seat to hold it on.

I'm a former Navy parachute rigger and I could certainly make something like what is being described. But I wonder why an aftermarket bag wouldn't work just as well. Unless I am missing something, the resulting product would be collapsed down on top of the passenger pillion, making it kind of uncomfortable for a passenger.

An aftermarket bag like those mentioned above would fit well on the pillion, and using bungees or other straps would be easy to put on and remove.

Tailbag: SW-Motech tank or tail bag with a quick release mount attached to a luggage rack.

I'm planning on getting one of their tank bags with a powered quick release mount for The Bike That Shall Not Be Named™. It will have ports inside to charge my phone and/or ipod (and a mount right on the bag for the former). I'm thinking about getting a non-powered mount for the America luggage rack for commuting. It's not cheap though. I'll be into the powered quick release tank bag setup well over $200. That's why I haven't pulled the trigger quite yet.

This is what I'm talking about. Step one would be to take all the foam out. Two would be the zipper all the way around the middle. It would need to be the kind that you can zip all the way off (and back on). The top zipper would go along the top seam 3/4 around. The expandable section would be on the interior to expand when you unzipped the middle zipper.

John, can you attach the picture I'm emailing you to this post?
