I just got my 2007 America out of storage after almost a year and a half. While I was doing the oil change, I could see a gear, very close to the opening of the oil filler. It was protruding from the right side of the opening as you stand over it, facing the front of the bike.

I am not the best mechanic, nor do I have the best memory, but I don't remember being able to see a gear there before, or at least not that close. This was nearly blocking the filler hole, so much so that the funnel was resting on top of it instead of sitting down in the hole.
Is my bike broken?

Rest assured that there is nothing in your picture out of the ordinary.

Thanks moe!

I rode it for a few miles to warm things up (before and) after I noticed this, and of course the mind plays tricks on you.

"Is that vibration excessive, or just normal Triumph vibration?"
"Is that weird noise the engine or wind buffeting?"

Glad to finally have the old girl back home with me and looking forward to a couple thousand miles this year as opposed to the 0 I got last year.

"The mind plays tricks"... no kidding! Enjoy those new miles and don't let the tick, tick, ticking of the engine bother you. It's just your Trumpet talking to you!
