If it coughs back through carb, turn air screw ???up or down??? If it backfires on deceleration, turn air screw ???up or down????
05 Mulberry America, Freak, 45/145, one shim stock needle, 2 1/2 turns, 2 baffles drilled 3/4" holes, 3rd baffle removed, 18T/42T DID x-ring, engine mount OPG & oil temp, Metzeler 880s, EBS rotors, HH pads, low profile seat

Out or down for more fuel, in or up for less. Out to quell popping on deceleration. If it was me, though, I'd be checking the vacuum caps for dry rot since you've got that cough going on.

Excusssse meeeeeee for stating air screw instead of Idle Mixture Screw!!!! Been racing and riding bikes over forty years, and used the vernacular flat tracker version instead of 'formal'.

No worries, all is forgiven...FWIW, I also razz 2T tuners that refer to it as a "fuel" screw... At least you didn't call it a "dinglehopper"

OK, So how many turns till the mix screw falls out? lets say screw all the way in. I cant even remember where mine is any more. im thinking 2 1/4.

it's quite a few but there comes a point when it isn't adjusting anything anymore.

The pilot fuel screw only controls 1 of 5 pilot holes; the 4 other pilot jet bypass holes are under the throttle plate (when closed) & are not controlled by the screw.
