Okay, I admit that I like awesome advertising, commercials, etc., and when a uniquely funny, awesome, and effective advert for a useful product or service catches my attention, I like to share the wealth with my pals on BA.com. (This is especially true when I benefit from it as well. )

The website pretty much has it ALL going on. A great pitchman, an entertaining pitch, a machete, even a freakin' dancing guy in a bear suit, and what looks like a great way for those of us who shave our ugly mugs to save some serious cash-ola. I signed up for the $6 a month program. You make up your own mind, but it looks like a great deal to me.

dollar shave club (Watch the video on the homepage. Even if you take a pass, it's hilarious!)

One last thing. If you DO decide to sign up, please do so by using the linky below, so I can get some free stuff. I DO love you guys, but who doesn't love free stuff??? Once you sign up, you get the same opportunity.

Cheers!!!

Had seen that on one of my economic blogs, great vid. Thought about posting it, but was worried about the "great F**king blades". let us know how your subscription works out, quality etc. If it works out for you I'd be happy to use your link to order.

Braun is a great electric razor. I shave the old fashion way in the mourning, but have a Braun in my office desk for the end of the day before going out. I actually think the Braun is a closer shave, but not refreshing.

So you guys don't go for the current "My beard is so freekin manly that I can't keep it cut from one hour to the next" look? I think that look is about as cool as letting your shirt hang out from under a vest or sweater, or your pants about to fall off your butt with underwear hanging out.

Sorry if any of these are considered religious things; I'm just an old fart who thinks kids should clean up and man up.

I'm sort of preppy and at my age my beard comes in gray which makes it hard to lie about my age to women in bars.

I gave up shaving.

I actually had a young man show up for an interview with the 2 day growth look. I told him not to waste either of our times.

UPDATE and REVIEW:

The Youtube video went viral and was evidently more successful than Dollar Shave Club anticipated. Demand exceeded supply, and initial shipments were weeks behind. However, the company was very communicative, and even extended (to me at least) a free month for my patience and understanding.

I signed up for the $6 a month deal. My first shipment of four blades and my handle arrived last Friday, and here's my report:
Customer service is EXCELLENT thus far. Yes, initial ship met was late, but they kept me informed, responded to my E-mails in a timely manner, and provided compensation (one month free) for my troubles.
The handle is high quality and more comfortable and balanced than either the stock Mach III or Fusion I normally use. I rate it as EXCELLENT.
The blade is high quality, very comfortable, gives a close shave without dragging or cutting, and has an aloe vera wear strip. The blade is at least as sharp and as comfortable as either comparable high-priced Schick or Gillette blades. (I do wish it had a single blade at the top for sideburns and shaving under the nose, but that may be a patent issue with Gillette.) I would rate the blade as VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT.

My first shipment even came with a coupon for a free drink at any bar in America!*

So far, I am extremely pleased with DollarShaveClub.com and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who uses a blade to shave and wants to save themselves some time and MONEY. By the way, if you intend to join, please use the link in the OP, so I can get credit and earn a few months free blades. (After you join, you get the same referral deal. )

*Not really.

Do we have to read that bit really really fast so in our heads it sounds like the disclaimers at the end of radio commercials?

A couple of years ago, when complaining about the high cost of razor blades when you have to replace them weekly, my uncle turned me on to this:

After you shave, wash your razor with water, then hit it with a hair dryer to dry the razor. My razor blades now last at least six months.

Last time I changed blades was right after Thanksgiving and it's still sharp and isn't pulling hair - still very smooth. I shave my head and face daily, by the way.

Mine every couple of days .... so I have no need for a hair dryer
Bought me ONE OF THESE after they were mentioned on here a while ago.
Damn near scalped myself second use (and third come to think of it) but it shaves really close (that's why I only shave my noggin every couple of days).

Interesting - I use their shaving cream and have used it exclusively for about 3 years. It's aloe based and is super slick - also it takes only a dab for my whole head so a bottle lasts forever. I might try their blade (with care!).

Good one Erle, but my 20 seconds of hot air does nothing compared to my wife and 3 girl's use of hair driers. I swear after they get ready in the morning the temp in the house is raised by 15 degrees!

I used to use a Schick Injector. Blades were something like 2 bucks for a 15 shot magazine. Each blade was good for 3 or 4 shaves. When a blade was done, a tiny sliver of steel went into the hard metals recycle bin. If it was tossed in the rubbish, the land fill ended up with a tiny brown stain of rust. When you tossed the injector, about 4 blades worth of soft steel and a hardened steel spring was all that went to the dump and that deteriorated to dust in a couple of years. Dummies today who are pretending to be "environmentally responsible" pay a half gallon of gas for a disposable, toss it after one use and the plastic handle and 3 stainless steel blades take several years to break down.

I remember those single and double-edge blades from the 1980's remodel on my 1940's house. As was common in those days, the recessed bathroom medicine cabinet had a slot that you could dispose of those blades in. The slot emptied into the wall void. I must've dug out 5 pounds of those rusty blades - the whole time wondering when my last tetanus shot was.

I almost never shave, but I trim my hair with a small Wahl trimmer. Been doing that for years. However, this year I have been getting laser hair removal on my face and neck. It hurts like hell and is expensive, but when it's done I won't ever have to shave or trim again. And since my hair was patchy anyway, it's not like I'm gonna miss out on growing some epic beard or anything.

Old school! That's awesome...I've been wondering about using a straight razor for years. I got facial hair like a bumper crop of ten-penny nails. Electrics mostly just pull my hair out, and I'm sick of spending more on razor blades in a month than on gas.
But I can't figure out where the hell I'm going to find someone to show me how to shave with a straight razor without decapitating myself.

There are three levels of membership (which you can adjust at any time during your membership). The primary level at $1.00 a month requires additional shipping, and I don't know what that is. For the send and third level, shipping and handling is included.

Full deets on the website.

Thanks Bill.
I have a straight razor too, but it stays in box. The only thing I would probably ever use it for a bar fight =0
