I'd prefer it if Triumph hadn't put a large MCN banner on the fairing Needs to be 1800cc

That sure looks nice! Wonder what they'll price it at? Guessing 16-17k.

My 1200-4 Trophy was so friggin' quick it was absolutely insane. Über scary... could pass a car in a split second and be over the ton without ever trying!
I sure hope Kit's okay.

Yeah it may be faster than a Rocket, but at least it looks better. Wait, what? Actually it looks just like a Beemer to me. There's no mistaking the uniqueness (call it ugliness if you will) of the Rocket.

I was waiting for this but gave in when the Explorer was introduced and bought a BMW R1200RT instead. I would have bought this last year. Love my RT but I really wanted a Triumph triple. No regrets though. The BMW is sensational.

Even though it was a zero speed crash, let's not repeat it anytime soon, capisci?

I can't say I'm excited about the angular look - I really liked the older rounded version.

I hear ya, Bill. Let's hope the final style changes from these spy pics we're seeing here. The older Trophy (Hinckley) was a much prettier bike.
Hmmm, maybe I should have kept mine in the event that the new Trophy ends up super fugly and the old one becomes a collectors item.

I gotta agree, nothing inspiring at this point. Maybe some snappy paint will doll it up.

I completely agree, Kevin. Now that Triumph will finally offer a Sport-Touring machine with shaft-drive, a design which many Sport-Touring buyers find a necessity, I think many more of those sorts of buyers will now start seriously considering the purchase of this brand.
And who knows...because many police forces throughout the world use BMW RTs and Honda STs, maybe there will be a chance in the future that we'll start seein' these Triumphs in their motor pool?!

Looks just like any other Jap bike to me with all that ugly fairing hiding the power plant. What's the go with motorcycle manufacturers - are they afraid to put their ugly engines on display these days? At least our twins, the R3 & T/Bird make a statement by showing off our naked engines.

The clean images via google remind me of the latest crop of BMWs. Looks like a mile eater with loads of rider protection along relaxed sport touring design lines. Sure would look good in my shop :-)

Looks like a Kawasaki Concours to me. But that's the point isn't it? Triumph wants a share of every market segment. With this bike Triumph will have a bike to compete with everything BMW makes. They also got Harley covered pretty well with their cruisers.

Seems like they have a good insight source that's allowing the brand to penetrate the mainstream. Now if the company can just stabilize the outlying dealer network...

I was just out looking at my 2007 Tiger, and I saw plenty of engine. Most people don't see it when I am riding, because they cannot catch Tigger. If you want to play in the sport touring segment, you must have a fairing, no?

I just cant tell them apart from a distance. They all seem the same to me. The FJR IMHO is a much cleaner looking bike.

I don't agree, they look different to me also. Plus the bike in the spy picture may be quite different then the actual production model. Did you check out the driver foot peg? I doubt if that makes it to production, unless it flips up and down??? Also the air vent on the lower fairing looks kind of big and weird. It may be part of the camouflauge.

Actually Paul, I have to somewhat agree with Ron here, though as you point out there are some minor styling differences between the two bikes here. (...BUT, then again, sayin' two different Sport-Touring style motorcycles look similar, as Ron just did, is ALSO pretty much like sayin' two different CRUISER-style motorcycles or two different ADVENTURE-style motorcycles, etc, etc, etc, "look similar" too, ISN'T IT???)

Well as Bill Clinton would say; "It depends on what your definition of is, is."
I was thinking along the same line as you Dwight, that one might also say that all crusiers look alike, all sport bikes look a like etc. It will be interesting to see how the Trophy will compare to the other Sport touring bikes that have been around a while. If Triumph can undercut the 1200RT's price of around 19k by a few thousand dollars, I think it will do quite well.

Absolutely agree, Paul. The price point on this baby will be very important to its success.
And, considering that Triumph since its rebirth has seemed to be able to undercut the prices of the two other large European M/C manufacturers, BMW and Ducati, I have full confidence that Bloor's Boys will indeed be able to continue this practice and will bring this bike in at a very appealing "discounted" price from the R1200RT's.

I've been looking at basic specs. of some of the more popular Sport Tourers and using the Tiger Explorer as a point of reference since the Trophy is not out yet. Bike HP Wt. MFSRP Price Triumph Explorer 137 HP 570lbs. $ 15,699 Kawasaki Concours 160 688 15,899 Yamaha FJR 1300 141 644 15,590 BMW R1200RT 110 570 17,350 BMW 1600 GT 160.5 703 20,900 Moto Guzzi Norge 95 542(dry) 16,290 I've come to the conclusion the new Trophy will not be cheap and may be priced between the BMW and Moto Guzzi. Also I learned another little tidbit today that some of you probably already knew. The 2013 BMW boxer engine will be watercooled. http://bmwmcmag.com/2011/02/spy-shots-water-cooled-boxer-gs/
