I just replaced the cdi with a procom. While shes not dropping the right cylinder like she used to she's stumbling really bad. At cruising rpm she's fine but taking off from a stop she almost dies. And when im at cruising rpm and I romp on the throttle she stumbles and sputters. If I ease the throttle up she will gain speed slowly.
Thoughts?

Thanks
Adam

Lots of interrelated operations here to ask about: petcock filters, hidden filter, tank vent line, tip over valve, pick up coil gap, TPS, coils and squirrel condoms to name a few. What else have you done while trouble shooting your bike?

I agree with Ed. There are a lot of things to test. I think you are starting with the most expensive troubleshooting test first. Hopefully it pays off.

If you still have the problem after installing the new CDI, you'll be able to sell it off with no problem.

Procoms can be fickle. What setting is it on? Although it seems you were seeing the same issues before the new CDI was installed.

most likely it is your Procom, they are tricky to dial in, mine still isn't where I want it

Have you tried any of the downloaded maps? I have mine set to the recommended map that matches the part#. As far as troubleshooting I haven't done any since before I replaced the cdi. I was sure that's what it was. I did check the carb plugs from when I removed the ai. No leaks.

Yeah, I am actually on a custom map Procom made for me, and it still needs more tweaking. Mine ran like ass on most of the supplied maps, and I tried multiple dial settings too. I like it for the high rev limit, I wish it ran as hard as my stock unit. If I can get it the same, I'll be very happy.

How did you go about getting a custom map from them? Did it cost anything?

I just called and talked to the dude in the tech department... I forget his name. Told him what I have and what the bike is doing, he made one and emailed it to me. You should try all of them first though. I went riding with the laptop to change on the fly.

Im gonna take her out tomorrow. I figure about 20 miles stop and go and a 10 mile straight on each map ought to let me know if I like any of them. Still hoping that one of them will solve the WOT and stop-n-stall problem im having. I really wish that there was an exact map match with the higher rev limit. Man she ran like a raped ape with the stock cdi!
