The 2012 Euro-Rally will take place from Friday 27th July to Monday 30th July, 2012 in Andorra la Vella, the capitol of Andorra.  I apologize for the delay in posting this and hope that I haven't caused too many complications. It's my first attempt to organize a Rally and I want it to be perfect... my folly it would appear! So - on with the Nitty Gritty.... I have looked into the various camp site ~ all 6 creditable ones that Andorra has  ~ and have draw the straw at: Camping ValiraAndorra la Vella AD500 Andorra   Situated just South of the Capitol and at a height of just over 1'000 meters. So bring your woolly blankets! Here's the GOOGLE Map. Here's the campsite's WebSite.Camping PricesAdult: € 6.10 Motorbike: € 4.95 And for those who would like to bring their dog(s): € 2.00 There are Bungalows on site, but I hasten to say that there is a strict reservation policy of minimum 1 week reservation in high season! AND ~ booking is from Saturday to Saturday and they are not too cheep either! Should there be any softies amongst us (me included) then I will be opting for one of the following hotels: Hotel President
Hotel CervolNaturally I believe that it is only 150 meters away from the site, but only after a recon that will take place in the next months, will I know better. I will get back to you on the exact hotel once I have confirmed which has the best conditions ($$$$$$). So that's what I have for now. I'll be back in the next weeks for definitive information once I have it. Let me know if you're interested and what you would opt for ~ camping or hotel ~ so that I can start getting the numbers together. Until then... Happy planning! man - ich hab' immer nach Andorra reisen wollen - aber glaube ich dass es ein bisschen unpraktisch waere mit "fiona" von Virginien nach Andorra zu reisen. ich freue mich auf fotos irgendwan mal in der Zukunft!

Good job Lee - count me in. Just checked on the Hotel Cervol & it appears to be sold out for that weekend - at least it is through the booking.com website!!

Yeah - I believe it's the booking.com website. They only have a set number of rooms.
I noticed this last year when I did the Thunder To Bled tour with Ivan and a group from the UK. I tried to book the hotels around my area (Germany, Austria and Slovenia) and was told 'full booked'. So then I called/emailed the hotels and they all had rooms, sometimes a euro or two cheaper than booking.com too!
So what I intend to do is wait a little longer - find out how many want hotel rooms +/-, then when I go down there next month or April, I'll hunt out the hotel of best conditions and reserve there and then!
Well that's all I think I can do at the moment.

Now that the dates have been confirmed, I have been talking to Dave (Hedgehog) and, smooth talking devil that he is, he has talked me into going to the Faro rally a week before the Euro rally (It took me about 20 seconds to decide). We are booked to sail from Plymouth to Santander on Sunday 15th July at 15.45, arriving midday(ish) on the Monday. We are then going to make our way down to Faro, aiming to arrive there on the Thursday.
When the rally finishes on the Monday, we are going to have a slow ride up to Andorra, route yet to be decided, but Dave wants to go to Almeria if possible (something to do with Spaghetti westerns!!) After Andorra, I have got to try to get back home by the Wednesday, but Dave might take a slower ride back.
All I have to do now is persuade my boss to let me have 2 ½ weeks off from work.!!

Ill be staying in Torrevieja which is not far away from Almeria. So maybe we´ll meet up on the way back up.

They probably have rooms Lee, they will be just sold out of the rooms allocated to booking.com. So if you contact the hotel I am sure you will be fine. I tend to book way in advance (almost as soon as I unpack from the last trip). Everyone (11) booked using booking.com for the full Thunder to the Bloc tour.
Looks like a terrific trip and I am sure it will surpass the expectations. Shame I can't make it again this year (been saying maybe next year for about 5 years now).

Think the plan is Tabernas (nr Almeria tuesday night, Valencia wednesday, barcelona thursday, Andorra friday.. can meet up with anyone who wants to meet up at any time

Ive done Torrevieja-Barcelone in 6rs before.Which means that ill leave Torrevieja on Thursday Morning to Barcelona. So we will meetup somewhere in southern spain? regards, Nick

Andy Great news - just waiting on Nick now. On another note, I have just bought a sat nav - and noticed this bit of news. Apparently it is now illegal to use a "greed camera" detector in France (including Sat Navs) and you can be fined €1500!!!! If you are going through France,( which just about includes all of us!!) make sure that the camera warning function is disabled before you enter.

 *BUMP* OK, so with time moving along, I'd like to make a quick summary as to who's in and who's out - and who's for what... So far I can see that we have: - Lee (under the bridge) - Joe (under the bridge) - Bedouin (hotel) - Steershead (tent - what else...!?) - Hedgehog (tent) - Nobby (most probably tent - but I'm not sure) - Bodger (hotel) - Pawel + 2 (hotel I guess) - Yuergen + 2 (hotel I guess) - ? - ? So who's Camping, hotelling-it or going for the cardboard boxes under the bridge? The reason I ask is that I'm wanting to make the provisional reservations in the next week or two or three. Actually I'd like to get myself down there in the next week or two, but failing that then I'll be making phone calls. So - who's knows what their preferences are so I can get organized? ( *lol* me.... organized.... *lol* )

I ordered a couple yesterday and about half a dozen a month ago for testing... Just spoken with Dave and getting feedback regarding accommodation ~ the way it looks, is the fact that it's going to be quiet on the campsite... So to summarize - Hotel: • Lee • Joe • Thanassis • Andrzej & Alice (possiblies...) • Bodger • Pewel & Lady • Agata + 1 • Yuergen & Lady • Marta • Shaun (possiblies if they can make it's...) • Johann + Lady Camping: • Andy • Shaun For your information - Hotel Cervol - Booking.com There is 'private' parking ~ but I think we will know better once we are there! For your information ~ there are rooms available, AND I have also made the experience that SHOULD there be no rooms left through 'booking.com' ~ you can always call up and reserve via the telephone! The hotel has nearly 100 rooms!!!

Lee- I know there is a lot of me, but even I can't stay in a hotel and on the sampsite at the same time!!
PS, are you not letting Dave come this year, cos him & me have booked a whole lot of hotels & campsites in Spain before we get to Andorra!!!
Perhaps he can stay where Nick is staying??
