Looks like my schedule has changed and I might be in town after all. Woohoo !!! Pray for the same great weather we had last year. I'll even get to play around with my GPS.

I think I can make it down from Seattle. Happy to meet up with anyone else heading down that way in the morning.

A group of us have met at the Starbucks in Auburn(Auburn Way North/!5th NW kitty corner of Harvey Road)in the past and road south on the backroads to Chehalis.Will post later when time approaches.You are welcome to join up with us.

Looks good Soren. Pulled pork was great last year.
I'll be riding the backroads most of the way down, although I'm going to bring the GPS with me in case I get mixed up.

It was a nice ride last year. I seem to recall, on the ride back home, coming around one turn and having a stunning view of Mt. Rainier.

Forecast, so far, is mostly cloudy, a high of 60 deg F and a 10% chance for rain. I'm hoping this changes and we get another glorious weekend (4th in a row!!).

Forecast is now looking promising. Partly sunny, high of 63 F.
Getting excited now. Going to have to give her a bath though. Riding around Mt. Rainier, one gets a lot of bug splats all over.

Here is my Suggestion...Meet up at Starbucks(Auburn Way North/15th NW kitty corner of Harvey Road)at 1100 am,quick cup of mud and leave at 1115am for a ride down 167 to I-5 south(1&1/2 hour ride) to Chehalis for lunch..We can then back road home or slab according to the weather.If we backroad down,then we meet earlier...depends on everyones time limits and skill level.Open to suggestions??

I'm up for whatever. I can backroad it down to Auburn and then happy to slab it to Chehalis. Would love to come back on something twistier though.

All I can commit to is being there by 1pm right now.
Im about 90% sure Ill be riding in with my buddy Rick (Yellow wing) but we need to get his girlfriend first so well be all over the place.

My intent is to backroad both ways, much like last year. It was a nice ride, especially on the return. I'll do some slab on 167 and 512 as well as I-5 down near Chehalis.

It was almost 3 hours each way, as I recall. Yet, I still was one of the first to arrive. The roads were all in good shape. Lots of other bikers out and, I think, 1 dog. .

Don't forget to avoid that coffee stand entrance when you get to the restaurant. I know it got me last year, as well as a few others.

Still hoping it stays dry. They've worked a little chance of rain back in the forecast.

Well, it turns out I can't go after all...sucks.

Anyone riding slab through Tacoma best try to find an alternate route.

I heard something on the radio that they were expecting backups of almost 2 miles. I bet Rts. 167/512 will be busy then. Ride safe !!

If you take the backroads back up, try to ride through Yelm on Rt 507. I remember, last year, coming around a corner and having a fantastic, unobstructed view of Mt. Rainier in all her glory. It was fantastic. I would have loved to have taken a pic except I didn't dare leave my bike on the road. Maybe this year, I will plan for it and look for a good vantage point.

If anyone wnats to join me on the "leisurely" backroads, I'll be leaving Kent about 9:45-10 AM. I'll take 167 down to 512 and then get off in Parkland and follow Rt 7 down to Rt 507. As I recall, the first part of Rt 507 is really nice, with a nice smell of cedar in the air. Speed limit, on 507, is mostly 55 mph.
I'll pick up I-5 south, just north of Centralia, and get off on exit 72.

Heading back will be the opposite.

The KOMO 4 forecast I saw looked better than yours Soren. I hope yours is wrong and mine is right!!

I was too busy riding today to wash the bike. Don't think I'll be able to wash her in the morning either. I just hope Z's "Black Beasty" is crustier looking than mine...
