The tach on my 2004 America reads 3000 RPM when it is off. Has anyone else had trouble with the Triumph tach? Is there a fix? Thanks for any info.

Have you tried anything yet? I would unplug it and tap it on the tabletop and see if it fixes it. I figure with some things that are broken I don't have much to lose, why not hit it? Also check the plug on the ignitor.

I do remember someone here talking about their own faulty tach.

Yes. Mine started flipping out (literally) in 2010 on the way home from British Columbia. I was going to S-can it but a member here decided he wanted to fiddle with it so I gave it to him.

OK, I tried it, took it out, looked at all the connections, hit it with a hammer, multiple times, tried to disassemble it, could not get the glass off, hit it some more and disconnected everything, it still reads 2500 rpm. So not only do I have to take my eyes off the road to look down at my tach, I have to subtract 2500 from the reading.... not very useful.

Come to think about it, It is not dissimilar to our speedometer, with the 10% error.
