I don't know, but for some reason I just can't seem to get into the whole Facebook thing. Ya see, I've had a Facebook page for maybe a year now, but I seldom check in there. However, I DO have a theory about maybe why that might be, and it's kind of a takeoff of that famous old saying by Groucho Marx: "I would never join any group(though I guess I did) which would accept ME as their Facebook 'friend'!" Uh huh, 'cause there's just GOTTA be somethin' wrong with a group of folks who'd stoop to doin' THAT! (...but as I said, that's just a "theory"!)

It's a great way to stay in touch with adult kids as well as friends who have become more scattered. And the scattered who have become friends. And Dwight, ya know we accept you around this place. And you have 15k+ posts here so you're not quite the anti-social poster child

eh, i suppose... I use it but not much. Too general, too much worthless crap, reeks of big brother-ism, it's a hacker's playground, maybe my age and increasing desire to keep my 'bid-ness'mine. It's been a great tool for finding lost people for a class reunion a few years ago, but it also enabled people that I would have been better served to stay away from to find me and literally disrupt my life as I once knew it. Beware - The friend you friend ain't always your friend. It was costly. That's all I'll say about that.

sent.
after I joined FB, I found people I had wondered about for years! It was and is awesome to be in touch with so many. Granted like anything you need to be careful what you put up there. I was able to return a goodness (pay it fwd) to a friend because of FB.
short version -- very close friend, who has bad luck like a pig pen has a cloud, who also tought me how to play guitar, is the guy who will give you the shirt off his back and has gone out of his way for many ppl. He had a "bad girlfriend" who stole all his gear save one guitar. I sent a req to all our common friends to send me some $$ So we could do something nice for him for a change. We were able to present him with a 30W. Peavy VYPER Amp. I took it from FLA to NC to give him.
That is the + side of FB.

Hmmm? You'll have to ask Dwight. I don't really consider anyone anything 'cept someone lest they prove otherwise.

I have a wide variety of friends and family on Facebook. I don't play any of those insipid games and I don't install hardly any apps. I just communicate with the people I want to. All that hacker's playground BS to me is just BS. Don't trust just any old app and you'll be fine. The people I don't want to talk to I just hide or block. Simple.

Yeah, the games... I find it hard to believe that any of those games would be more enjoyable to play than what my PS3 or Wii can offer. As far as apps, I think the only ones I have are the friend map where it shows an approximate location on earth to my friends, and the virtual bookshelf that shows what I'm reading currently and have read. I guess if a hacker wants that info, go for it. I do enjoy blocking people that annoy me.

Yeah. I quit the games that I did play (just mafia) because my kids played it. But they got tired of it about the same time I did. So the games are all blocked now. I have a couple of friends and relatives that seem to play them all, but since the games are blocked I don't see it. When a new one appears I just block it too. Like you said; simple

Been on FB for a while, as some have said, it's a good way to keep in touch with friends and family, especially since I live 1000 miles away from where I grew up and don't really have any burning desire to get back that way (most of my family has long since moved anyhow and there just isn't that much to do in a town of 985 people! Don't do the games, or apps and I've really enjoyed getting back in touch with a few special friends from high school and some of my previous jobs, my biggest problem is getting FB requests from people I vaguely knew back then who are friends of friends, or such, and now all of the sudden 30 years later they want to be friends. I'm too much of a soft sell to say know. And then there are a few people I've defriended because they post some pretty offensive or radical stuff that I just don't want anything to do with (but most of those folks I didn't really talk a lot to anyhow....)

My opinion seems to be similar to most peoples on here, it's a good way to keep in touch with people, but the rest of it can go suck. I don't need to know when you last took a dump I'm not even friends with my daughter on there, which suits us both, even though we live over 180 miles apart. We've got phones She moans that it's easier for her to get in touch with her mother via FB than any other way, even though they live in the same house. Go figure

I'm on facebook most of the day. You could say Im a bit of a Facebook junkie.
If i could ever figure out what my TBA password is, i would spend a lot more time on here. I use my I-Phone all day long, but cannot remember my password to log onto this website from my phone.

Hmmmm...have you tried the password "soccer' or maybe "hooligan", Mark? And if THOSE don't work, maybe try "ManUsux"!!! (...in fact, knowing how you feel about "that other" team over there, you might try my last suggest here first...though I have a feelin' you'd NEVER forget THAT password!)

"ManUsux" Thats funny. Ive never seen it written like that.
Ive tried all my normal passwords and i can't figure it out. I'll probably have to apply for a new one. I'm not the most computer savy person in the world.

Hey Mark I haven't looked but I'm guessing there is a "forgotten your password" link. You can usually get them emailed to yourself if / when you forget 'em
