Has anyone here used the dyna beads to balance their tires and if so what did you think of them? Also, its time for new tires and I'm looking at Dunlop 404s for my 06 America. I see they are tubeless tires, is it ok to run them with tubes on the America's spoked rims? Is the correct size for the front 100/90-18 or 110/90-18? I've seen it listed both ways. It calls for a 3.50-18.

The tube will be OK. I don't like the idea of that method of balancing on a motorcycle tire. Done it on big truck tires quite a few times when they won't fit my balancer. You can't do that with a tube anyway, as far as I know the tire would have to be tubeless to balance with beads.

I have friends who use them and seem pleased.
The Dyna Beads can be used in tubes which are required for spoked rims.
Good luck and ride safe!

I used a pin vise and a drill bit that just cleared the inner threads on the valve stem and relieved the opening a bit. I also bought the special valves that can't be plugged by the little ceramic balls. Draining them little suckers in there can try your patience, but opening up the stem sped up the process a bunch.

I love em they are the best way ta go.

I believe they're small enough to insert once you pull the valve stem (or so I remember from a time when I read about it somewhere).

The valve stem has to be removed.
That is how my friend explained it to me when he used the beads in his 2001 Yamaha Road Star.
Good luck and ride safe!

Removing the valve stem isn't possible with a tube, it's part of the tube. If you mean the valve core , I would never have the patience for that! I line the little circle on the tire with the valve stem and ride. Never had an issue doing that.

After I change the tire from the Bridgestone 3.50-18 to the Dunlop 404 100/90-18 should I remove the old balancing weights to use the dyna beads?

You are correct. I used the wrong term. I should have said (and I meant) valve stem core.

Yeah, shed all the weights. Tube or tubeless, the beads balance both. The internet vendors have a Q&A about all questions you might have. My tire guy didn't want me to use them, because of a lack of experience with them. So, I agreed to pay twice for mounting them up, if they didn't spin balance. Now, he sells them and advises all his tire buyers to get on board. He charges a little less for just installing the weights, due to the price of the beads. One thing for sure, the beads wont ever fly off.

I used them and didn't have good luck. At speed they were ok but for those times I wasn't mashing the throttle I four that it took them time to "balance" and in the meantime the front end felt wobbly. I also had some odd wear and a cupped front tire. When the tire was removed there were some small clumps of beads in there which was odd since I installed them weeks after the tire was mounted. I installed them by removing the stem core.

I decided to stay with the Bridgestone 3.50-18 on the front of my 06 America. I bought the tire off of Dennis Kirk and changed it myself, no problem there, went very nicely. Now I'm not sure if I got more Dyna Beads on the garage floor or in the tire, the next couple of rides will tell.
