Just working in the garage, pulled out one of my favorite albums to 8 track to cassete to cd. The Outlaws and played at very high volume one of the all time greatest rock and roll songs ever recorded (my opinion, of course) "Green Grass and High Tides". Liked it so much, played it a second time. I think most of the members of this great site are old enough to remember this amazing band. I really miss these guys.

On my rotation list under Southern rock, don't forget "There goes another love song".

Well guess what I just listened to for the last 9 minutes and 48 seconds... that's right, Green Grass and High Tides!! I forgotten how amazing The Outlaws were and apparently still are. While listening to that amazing Southern Rock tune I went off and googled them and sure enough, up comes their official website. Thanks a bunch for posting this!! Green Grass and High Tides on youtube The Outlaws website
Live to love, love to live.

One of my all time favorite bands. These guys are underappreciated, IMHO. Great harmonies and tight three guitar assault. My favorite Outlaws album is Hurry Sundown. Hughie Thomasson, Henry Paul, Billy Jones and crew
Another under rated southern rock band, Marshall Tucker.

I guess I will be the one to hijack this to OTHER GREAT SOUTHERN ROCK SONGS! I am going to forgo the obvious top hits IE: most of what is on the radio by Skynyrd. So lesser known great SR... Preachers Daughter and Was I Right or Wrong are great and you will be luckier than me if you have heard them on the radio. Fall of the peace makers By Danny Joe Brown project and later with Molly Hatchette, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsXpGV5tExY GREAT OLD FOOTAGE! Also like Bunty hunter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAW-uUmgNysWhile looking stuff up, I had never heard this song By the current version of Hatchet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZbAY1kqq00GOTTA PUT THIS IN AS A TRIBUTE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZM6PidbXh2Y&feature=related

Yep DBT has some good stuff. Check out Blackberry Smoke as well. This band seems ready to hit it big.

Nice, a lyric quote from "Baby Love". MF had a truly classic rock (think Zepplin) meets R&B mix of sounds and Glenn and Joyce sure could rock the house in front of that huge beat laid down by BB. It was sad that Epic could never capture the energy of their live show on record; if you can find "Another Mother Further" on CD it will just give you a glimpse of the raw power they commanded on stage.

Gotta add Brantley Gilbert too. May not be so called 'southern rock' but still has some good music.

aaaah.. much more than that my friend.. that was "the" lyric and in my opinion the best opening line (followed by that funky kick) in R&R history, well at least the top 5 anyway.

I, living in Orlando, and them, being from Tampa, allowed me the oppertunity to see them ALOT, as an opening band, before they became headliners. (somewhat)
And you may see me tonight

Yep, that acapela opening from Joyce followed by three hits from BB and Wizard really made for a dynamic opening line...my fav was Mo stealing the lick from "Trampled Under Foot" to open their cover of "Mickey's Monkey". And MF always had the best cover of "Burning Love"... Back in the day I worked with three brothers on their crew: Rich, Barry, and Jack Adams...any coincidence here? Just brings back a flood of early touring day memories.
