How many of you members have started a custom build only to put it on hold for a few months/years due to family, work, lack of finances and other obligations. Lets hear your stories. Sometimes that's all it takes to help motivate a member to finish their project. In my case I started strong but due to my daughter deciding to go to a private college$$$$$$$; I had to postpone my build until she gets closer to graduation.

Right here. Mine is a bobber conversion for Bollox, not a full custom build. I think I started accumulating parts back in 2007. Even got the paint, three different varieties of green, still sitting in cans. Job, family, health, it all gets in the way and has effected not only me but my buddy, a fabricator and painter. He's the one who painted Bollox. Super talented and he has the right vision for what I want to do. I could pay someone else to do the work but I would really just rather wait for my buddy. I managed to sneak in some fabrication on the gas tank when he was in the shop a couple years ago stripping down one of his Super Bees. The dash was shaved and the bungs welded in for the sight gauge.

Of course, the bike that is the target of the bobber makeover won't even start so I've lost all motivation to make any progress on the custom work anyway. Especially now that I have two other bikes to ride. And now my house is in the way (the bathroom remodel is just the beginning) and every spare nickel is going towards that.

About 20 years ago I had a 64 650 Bonnie on an aftermarket hardtail frame I cobble together. It was brick red with gold pinstripe, I custom fabbed the springer solo seat and put a 3 wire harness (no turn signals) on it & rode the machine all of about 5 times & hadn't got into doing any of the planned performance mods (bore, new valves, rejetted carbs & etc.)....before I had to sell it off to pay the lawyer for my divorce. I really miss that Bike....it was a sweet ride.
BTW....the ex didn't want me riding anyhoo and once told me I loved the bike more than her....Duh!

Perfect time to start drawing up the schematic for your new custom wiring harness!

Meanwhile I'm going to have to put this project aside for a while until I can source a new frame; the neck gussets are bent and the only frame place I know of is in Sacramento making a new frame cheaper than shipping and straightening...

I can draw one I can scan and post, very simple and works well. Been using it for years.

What about parts that were accumulated while your project was moth balled. I have extra VDO guages, a 3 over DNA springer, Dakota digital gauges, a Rolling Thunder Springer with dual shocks,a couple of 5 3/4 inch headlights, an extra rear fender and more parts than I can list. I have enough to start my second build. Now I just need to finish my first.

You can Ebay the stu8ff you don't want. I might be interested in the springer, fender, and headlights depending what they are exactly and what you want for them. (shipping cost could be pricy on the springer)

I have extra fenders, extra gas tank, custom tail light, Kuryakyn retro bullet signals (that I may now put on the Rocket), LED illuminated license plate bracket, pullback risers, speedmaster bars, DEI exhaust wrap kit, etc., etc. I don't want to sell any of it because I still don't know what I'm going to use and not use.
