WOW! Great Caesar's Ghost!

This sucks!

Just discovered that the average low temp's for the third week of May in all three locations are low to mid 50's!!!

Low to mid 50's!?!?, What's THAT all about!?!?

I thought this was STILL in the South!?!?

Earl, the only hardship is having to carry your cold weather gear until you get north of Macon. Even then the temps don't drop to the 50s until twilight, if then. Early morning temps are low too. The Cherohala is COLD even mid summer. You will not be cold if you arrive in Dahlonega before 5pm.

Yea, I just found out that helmets are REQUIRED in GA., S.C., N.C., & TN., so I guess that solves the cold head problem for this trip.
I just bought a nice leather jacket from shopgoodwill.com ($8.00), so the upper extremity is covered. (Guess I'll re-sell it when I get back.)
I've got motocross gloves, so that's done.
I do have a PAIR of boots somewhere, and I'm SURE I can borrow some socks from someone.

So I guess I'm covered, as long as I get a heated room for the nights.

Now, just got to do the same for junior.

I'm hoping that with the mild winter we had, the spring temp's. will be ABOVE the average.

(Ya'll had an mild winter up there too, didn't ya???)

My plan is to pitch a tent Wed evening depending on the weather of course. Paul, I assume you reserved the same sites as last year, in your name?

Hey Paul, I've booked a room at the Super 8 for Fri. & Sat. nights, NOT the one in Dahlonega, but the one in Dawsonville. It's suposedly about 14 miles away, and a 20 minute ride.
The clincher was, since this has turned into a ten day trip with my son, it has a heated, indoor pool, which will really be enjoyed.
(Talked with the manager last night, and as of now, he CLAIMS the heater IS working!)

Will be the annual Greater Atlanta British Motorcycle Assoc (GABMA) three state ride for me. Leaving Atlanta on Thursday morning, the 17th of May, to Asheville, then the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Blowing Rock, NC. Our 214 mile Three State Ride begins Satuday morning, and goes through 3 states, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, with about 80 other vintage british iron...
My bike, the '72 Bonneville, will certainly be uncomfortable, but is running like brand new, and is ready. This will be the longest ride I've taken on her since resurrection. Will be riding back to the ATL on Sunday....

We'll hang with you, but when it comes time to lay our heads down it will probably be at the Econo Lodge. Unless something better comes up.

Hey Rudy, will be good to see you again. Regarding your little black bonneville: black is the new white.

The camping is at the Etokwah River Campground, just West of town off of 52. Paul (beanache) is the contact person as he set things up up with the proprietor.

i have confirmed 3 4xtent sites with electricity ($20 a night camping x4 bikers) with jaki and darryl. I will have to cancel 1 or 2 spots if we have less than 5 or 9 respectively. let me know if you are going to camp. it will cost $5 a night if there are 4 on the site and I will provide some amenities. there will be a shower and toilet. I will have plenty of wood, booze and grub but will only pay for 1 site for the full 3 days.

Well I can drink, fart, burp and flirt with Raj's wife if necessary. (But probably not all at the same time.) Well count me in for camping!

This will be interesting, I've never attempted to pack camping equipment on my Speedy before. So if anyone headed north sees a tent or sleeping bag on the side of the road would you mind to terribly grabbing it for me?

Mark, while you're doing your 3 state ride, I'll be enjoying the Briitish Motorcycle Owner's Asociation of Houston's 28th annual rally in New Ulm, Tx. Other than attend the odd ride, event, or monthly meetings, I handle the Bike Show set up, registration and awarding the trophy plaques to the winners. There is something very satisfying about seeing, hearing and watching people ride old British Iron.

But #%^*+ I hate that the Ga. Rally falls on the same weekend this year. It would have been easier for me to take two whole weeks off to do them both. And that ain't easy.

I hate to even check in on the thread it hurts so bad not to be able to be there.

Sounds like to new members are coming too again. Wish all safe riding, and safe returns.

I'll be thinking of y'all!
