Somewhere on the forum I saw a list of which CDI units (129....) would work on which bikes. I'm ready to buy a used cdi for my '02 America 790. Pinwall Cycles has one on ebay that was from a '04 Speedy 790 for 249.95. Someone else has one for a "05 America that says EFI?? for $219.95 Any help on the compatability? Thanks

Don't think they had EFI in '05. The big thing is the 790, different cam timing from the 865 so it uses the earlier igniters. Speedies and Americas are the same until the Speedies bumped up to 865.

05 has carbs. I think the CDI is from a different bike.

Thanks Ed and Ron for your input. The CDI is supposed to be from a '05 America that is being parted out. The other parts they have for sale all say '05. The unit does not have the 7 digit number (129....) available, but has the s/n of 04480205. I'm thinking they included the "CDI ECU EFI Computer" in the description to get more hits from the search feature. I have sent some questions to the seller and will post the reply later. Still, if I could get the unit for $200-$240 as is, that is close to the Procom with a warranty. I'm just a little leary of fiddling with the Procom and maybe not being satisfied. Riding is my thing, not trying this and that. I'm way too tight to buy a new OEM from Triumph. I would feel foolish to put a $600+ part on a $50 bike.
