Found this a few minutes ago... http://www.mustangseats.com/product/13301/universal-plain-saddlebag-set

Looks interesting. Slightly larger than the popular Tsukayu Strong bags. A little more expensive.
I can't seem to find any other pictures of these but Im looking.

What's the benefit over Tsukayu? Because they're just not grabbing me.

pictures here: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/studded-covered-hard-saddlebags-with-conchos/part/M-13300

Just another option. I don't know that theres a benefit other than having another option out there.

I was hoping for a side opening bag but these open just like the Tsukayu bags.

the Tsukayu are pretty darn big, when i was looking for hard bags i considered these; but went with Tsukayu. after mount the Tsukayu i am glad i did, i know the mustangs are only about one inch bigger all the way around; but if you follow the line of the fender, you are going to be less than 3 inches from the pipes AND if you ride 2 up and your partner is short, forget about them clearing the bags front.

I want to put Jumbo Strong Tsukayus on the Rocket (with the support cross bar). Just not sure if I want to spend the money this year. The stock soft bags are very big.

I wanted the side opening style too. I found that Mutazu made two side opening models.

http://www.mutazu.com/products.php?cat_id=7&menu=Hard%20Saddlebags&s=prod.php

The LN was a bit small for me. The MU was about the same size as the Tsukayu. They are not fiberglass so not as nicely built as the Tsukayu, but they are a lot less expensive and I loved retro look.

It would look slicker yet IMO with a Zmilin laydown bracket and different rear blinkers...still, very slick as is.

Thanks. Yes new blinkers are on the list of things to do. I want them closer in. I was thinking of just removing them and wiring up the lights in the bags to be blinkers, but I want to be able to remove them. She is still a work in progress. Aren't they all?

Capt. Lou, which quick release bracket did you use? and did you have to shim the top bolts to keep the bottoms of the bags from sticking outward? (i have heard this is a concern with ghost brackets since they have a 10 degree pitch)

Thanks Bob. Yes I have been having fun with her, and so far my wife has been pretty good about the stuff I have been buying. BTW the pic was at Opal beach I think. I am nearby Mary Ester.

I used EZ brackets. They seem to have the right angle built in. It was really very easy. Biggest problem was getting the bags at the right place to fit right before i drilled the holes in the bags.

Capt Lou, i too am using the ez brackets, i am getting a bit of a spring to mine so they stick out a little. is there a possibility of getting a pic of yours from straight behind?

As soon as I get back home I'll take a pic. I might already have one on my computer. The one thing I dont like about them is that they tend to bounce a bit. I think it's just how much the are cantilevered. The extra width did help me clear the springs though.

i thought about that, one could use the U shaped bracket the goes between them and affix it with wing-nuts for quick release.

I got in late last night, I was flying home from a business trip to DC. I took a couple of pics this morning after I rode to work.

They pretty much show how the brackets and bag are attached.

do you have a shot showing both bags at once, basically with tail light in the center of the pic?

Fl Panhandle? I wonder if the ezbracket keys work in more than one lockset? lol

Lou, your cases are bitchin and they're easy to remove as well. "The Best of Both Worlds" resistance is futile.

Thanks, Moe. Now you are going to have me worrying about the locks. I liked the look just still getting over the width. Next thing is to get the door area painted red to match the tank with a gold pinstripe. The only issue with removing them is the connector for the lights. I hid it under the seat, and with the saet rail I have a little work to do to get to it.

lol. I've tried my ez-bracket keys on both of my ez-brackets, and a lot of others too. So far no luck with them working in a lockset other than the set they are for.

To be honest I don't drive much in the rain. I think they could really use a better weather seal around the door opening. That is on my list of things to do.

"I like the look just still getting over the width."

Yes big bags on these bike sometimes make them look like golf carts in your head. I have the same problem when I throw on my Hepco Beckers. But, the advantages out way our perceptions and only owners of these bike have that perception. IMO, for what it's worth, these are the best looking hard bags I've seen on an Am/Speedy, great look!

Most saddlebags aren't "dry", unless one purchases some very very expensive hard bags and even those have dry bags available for purchase.

Thanks! I think the shape works well with the rear fender, and I like the shape of the door it kind of follows the tank shape. The advantage is being able to carry stuff to and from work and store my half helmet in them when I get there. As for being wide when I first put them on my bike, my wife said it made my bike look like a trike!

My Hepco Becker Buffalo bags are leather with heavy plastic backs mounted with Easy Brackets. They are large, lockable and have handles for carrying like luggage. Great for traveling or storing gear, far out weighs the "golf cart" look.
