Any of you clever people out there came up with a solution to turn \ modify the Triumph sissy bar and luggage into a quick release similar to the Harley style ones in the below link. http://www.cavalrycustoms.com/store/product51.htmlI am thinking you would need to throw away the bottom assembly of the backrest rails and make a plate (like the Harley one) I currently have a workaround that is a semi easy, but no where near as cool as the Harley assembly. I bought longer bolts and turned them around so they go through from inside the fender, the bracket is then attached with the outer bolts. That way you only need to dismantle two little bolts on one side of the back rest.

They are starting to put quick release stuff on the new America/Speedmaster line, don't know if they have the backrest yet but maybe check out the 2012 model year.

Just the touring model.
I guess I don't really care that much until I get a seat with a backrest, because I'll be using my biker friend bag against the passenger backrest when traveling.

I've often thought that there would be a way to do it using the mounts for easy brackets, but I've been unwilling to hack up my backrest to try to make it work. Why don't one of you guys try it.

The only problem with that (and I've thought about it) is you lose your saddlebags. Of course, Spacer Jim could make a set of easy bracket style lugs with TWO grooves. I've thought about that, too.

yup, the full quick release needs to apply to the saddle bags as well, so double spacers.
My current set up is longer bolts turned around so they go through from inside the fender outwards (first picture), then nut sleave things onto them acting as spacers.
would work a treat if it wasn't for the fact that the bolts are long to accomodate saddle bags as well, so there is not any play in the backrest bracket, so you have to take one side of the backrest bracket off, still quick-ish

When I was looking into this, I was going to buy the Harley disconnect, for a model that most closely matched my fender width & bolt (lug) spacing. All I was going to need to do then was slightly bend the bracket for a perfect match, and re-drill (or oblong the existing) the front (or rear, I forgot) bolt for perfect spacing. Simple really, and pretty cost effective. But alas, I removed the whole damn fender & struts!
And you may see me tonight
