Anyone have a suggestion here? Don't care for backpacks and don't have saddlebags so I'm looking for something for my laptop that I can throw over my shoulder.

Although I would never admit to using it on my proper bike, I use one of these on a daily basis when riding the one with pedals - http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/daily-grind-bag?p=48882-0-902It appears indestructible (and I have trashed similar bags from Manhattan Portage, etc)....plus the name sort of fits what I use it for.

I do have one of those annoying flashing red LED lights on it - does that count?

You may consider some throw over saddle bags. So you don't have to leave them on or have those goony looking bars attached. I use to use a set of horse saddle bags "pony express bags". Throw them over the pillion and head out. Get to work throw them over your shoulder and head in.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

What I use is the Saddlemen S2200E (this is a newer model than what I have), it is large enough to carry all of my extras including a 1/2 helmet, I take it on & off as needed.

All good options...thanks. Think the reason I'm looking for something that attachs to me is that about 1/2 the time I ride with a gunfighter and the other 1/2 I've got a sissy bar. And I'm consistently inconsistent.

I have been known to use a Nelson-Rigg messenger bag, an attache/briefcase style bag geared toward cyclists. Comes with a waist strap that I never use to keep it from flapping around in the wind. Haven't used it in a while because I have saddlebags on everything...
