does anyone know the measurement for the opening on the console (2002 TBA) where one would put a Tach? (I'm trying to order a new speedometer for that hole, and my bike is currently at the shop).
thanks!

That would be 2 3/4" give or take a couple o' thou. The Acewell speedo I installed in my console was a bit bigger than that, but I was able to enlarge the hole with a dremel.

and a very Merry Christmas to you!
I ordered a koso D64 analog/digital - but ordered it from digital-speedos.co.uk (I tried to order from koso north america, but what a nightmare.....I highly recommend NOT ordering from them). and, with shipping and everything, it's CHEAPER from the UK....crazy.
thanks again. I'll post some pics when I'm done. also putting the wires inside the bars.

They mention that the barrel of that speedo is 64mm which converts to 2.52" but they don't give the diameter of the lip at the top. I'm thinking it will sit in there quite nicely and you won't have to mess with the hole at all.

I googled the install instructs. and on the illustration it noted 69mm as the diameter of the instruments casing, 69mm sounds about right for diameter of the bezel or top lip as to the noted 64mm diameter in the pic. Keith posted. Is a bezel called a casing in the U.K.?

I was definitely rolling the dice that I wont have to mod the hole. If I do, no biggie - but I'm thinking it'll just slide in there and sit nicely.
Ryk - I think so - I did the same thing.
I can't wait to get it. Just got a shipment notification this morning.
The wire job I'm doing in a few weeks. Still having good riding weather right now :-0
I'll def get pics up when ive mounted this thang.

There are angular/canted gauge bezels available. I believe you can find them online at the marine/boat doo-dad suppliers. Might be cool to have the gauge tilted a few degrees toward you?

I've always wanted to add a visor to my console mounted Acewell speedometer. Just haven't found one in the right size yet. Of course I could make one but I want it in chrome.

Keith, you could make one and have it chromed. You can usually find a chromer that will throw it in with something big like a bumper, and not charge ya much for it. could you please post a picture if your console/installation job. Im very interested in how the lights are wired in and the speedo cable attachment. Cause that is one handsome speedo.

Closest chromer is 4 hours away by bike, 7 hours by car!

a couple pics of the (almost) finished product. I ended up ordering an accessory switch after the fact that I didn't know about - to reset the trip odo (since that button is on the back of the unit) very happy with it!

I put a black rubber o-ring around the top due to some of the issues I had with how the gauge sits in the console - had to do some - eh - fabrication work underneath. Nothing too bad. some cutting and some drilling.
