That's a pretty trick conversion there Dwight. I like it. I would like to do the same thing utilizing footboards.

Hi Tony. The other BA in my garage(in the 3rd picture) is my neighbor Jeff's.(people will remember him and his wife Irene if they've come to any of the SWTFs) I hold his bike in my garage because he doesn't have a garage at his house. And, Jeff's bike does have the floorboard setup. I just took a look at his bike and found that the plate which holds the master cylinder and the floorboard is slightly different than the one on the foot peg setup.
Now, you can see in some of the pictures that I did some cutting on that plate in order to make this new setup, however I think a similar kind of thing could be done with the floorboard setup, also.
You can also see in these pictures that I've rotated the angle of that plate clockwise down from about the original "1 o'clock" angle to almost "2 o'clock", though because the angle of the master cylinder in now at almost "3 o'clock", I only have one of the two bolts(the rear-most one) holding the master cylinder on. However, it still seems very securely fastened. I may eventually fashion a new plate out of a sheet of stainless steel to hold the master cylinder, but like I said, right now the whole unit seems very very solidly mounted.
Btw, I wish I would've taken pictures in the progression of this process, as I think this would have made a little sense for those contemplating doing something like this for themselves. Needless to say, I did a whole lot of cutting, bench grinding(especially) and drilling and tapping threads on a piece of billet aluminum which holds that plate and the brake arm pivot bolt, and which then bolted to those steel mid-pegs brackets I made years ago and which bolt to the holes on the bottom of the bike's frame where a center stand would go.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Very nice setup, Dwight! I can see doing that to mine someday... it just makes sense (to me anyway, and obviously to you too).

Thanks for the thumbs up here, guys.
Btw, I should add that depending on the length of one's inseam, this new mid-peg arrangement COULD also facilitate the need of adding an inch or two to the height of one's seat by the addition of foam because of the lower seat height designed into the stock BA's and Speedies. You see, I have an inseam measurement of 33", and so in order to have my knees bent at the most comfortable angle for me, I did just that. Those contemplating this move with shorter legs may not have to do this.

Very nice. I need to make a set of "rears", since I've JUST about turned my BA into a Thruxton. I was looking at the factory sets for the Triumph line of sport bikes, but using a BA set like you did, it will look more "factory".

Yeah erle! I was thinkin' that exact thing when I saw those clip-on handlebars on your bike a while back. Yep, I was wonderin' how comfortable it would be ridin' your around with those clip-ons AND the whole feet forward thing?!! (...but then I thought maybe you might be REALLY flexible and bending over and touching your toes might be no big deal for ya either!)

Honestly, I truly love the position, and it doesn't get tiring to me at all, don't know why, but it's true. I want the rearset so I can "throw it around" much easier (I can't feel safe with my legs out front, no matter what upper body position I'm in) and have MUCH better control when riding aggressively. That's actually a harder position for me (on the neck/arms), but I deal with it.

You have to raise the seat and lessen the rake before you can call it a standard.

Well, I have done one out of two there, John. As I made note of above, I have raised the seat a bit. However, yeah, you MIGHT have a point about the rake (and don't forget the trail figure too here), but I do recall many of the older Standard motorcycles back in the day having less steep rake angles than do present day Standard bikes, and so maybe that argument is a wash...but I know what ya mean.

Btw guys, I've just thought of another "caveat" which must be taken into account here.
If you look at the pix again, you'll notice that I have Harley mufflers on my bike with extensions made to go between the headers and those mufflers. In effect, this allowed the room for this new bracket to clear the exhaust system.
And so, bottom line, I don't think using mufflers such as the stock units or most of the aftermarket brands (which increase their radius and spread out just aft of where they're connected to the headers) would work because of the lack of room available where these brackets and controls are now located.

Yep Gary, I know. Most people think of the desert areas of Phoenix and Tucson when the name of Arizona comes up. However, Prescott is situated 5300ft(1615m) in elevation, and so we usually get a few dustings of the stuff every winter.
Prescott also bills itself as Arizona's "Christmas City", and they do up the town square very nicely with decorations.
In fact, if you've ever watched the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart, the first time my wife and I happened through this town, 10 years ago now, was in December, and my first thought was that Prescott reminded me of that little imaginary town of Bedford Falls in that film.
(...yep, it's quite a change from where I lived and worked most of my life...the metropolis of Los Angeles)

I know only too well from our last but one visit. We left Scottsdale in shorts and 'T' shirts to drive up to the Grand Canyon. We got to Flagstaff and it started snowing. When we got to the canyon it was a blizzard and standing on the edge (in a total 'white-out) you couldn't see a thing. We had to come over again and did the helicopter flight into the canyon, amazing. We have friends who live in Mt Pleasant, Scottsdale. Bike looks great, BTW.

Not to further derail this thread, but the worst ice storm and driving conditions I've ever seen, even living in Montana for nearly 21 years and Colorado for 10, was in Flagstaff. I believe it was in '95. People couldn't even stand up on the side of the road it was so slippery. I don't know how my Dad and I made it through in his 2WD Dodge pickup with regular street tires.

Yep John, just two days ago they closed Interstate 40 for almost a day and for about 20 miles through the Flagstaff area.
Gary, nice to hear you've visited AZ before. Yep, sounds like you already knew about the different climate conditions in this state, alright.

And Gary, as I guess you know, THIS is also Arizona...this morning.... (...after I shoveled my driveway, that is...it only took one winter here for this ex-Southern Californian to learn that ya gotta stay on top of the whole driveway shoveling thing, 'cause if ya let it go, it's a whole lot more work later on)

That setup looks great. I was wondering (and I suppose this was the case with the old mid-pegs) if the mounts were strong enough to stand on.
I don't mind the forward controls on the America, but I LOVE my newspeedmaster rear driver's peg brackets. Being able to stand up on long trips or rough terrain is THE BOMB. My struggle with the Rocket III is that there's nothing like that available so I'll have to roll my own. Of course, there are Rask rearsets but I don't feel the need to go that far with it. I just got a standard, non-heel/toe shifter for it so hopefully being able to move both feet back and hang them off the footboards will be enough on long trips (but that ain't like standing). There are some guys on the R3 forum who are willing to trade their Roadster foot controls (farther back than mine) but I'm not so sure I'm ready to go there either.
But again, all I'd need are some pegs, not the controls.

I would think it all boils down to where you place your feet the majority of the time while you're riding, John. And yeah, like ya said, being able to stand up and stretch your legs and especially being able to use your legs in that "rough terrain" you mentioned for shock absorbing instead on having every bump hit ya in the tailbone and go right up your back, IS the great thing about a more standard riding position, alright.
I found that I was more and more using the mid-pegs I built because of this very issue, and less and less putting my feet up front, unless of course to work the controls that were up there. And so, it just made sense for me to move the controls back to where I found my feet placed most of the time.
Personally, I would say you might want to seriously consider taking one of those fellas up on their offer they've made in that R3 forum. I would think the R3 Roadster setup would be your best option here.

Thanks Bill. The shifter was the easy part, actually.
While I was in SoCal about a month ago for the pretty much rained out Hansen Damn British Ride, I stopped into Matt Capri's new dealership location(quite an improvement over the little place he had before) and John the parts guy there was nice enough to sell me the shifter on a floor model 2011 Bonneville SE. He said he'd just order a new one from Triumph to replace it.
It fit perfectly right on to the gear shaft, and while there I went ahead and removed the forward linkage but kept the forward peg.
