but I have strayed from the Triumph fold! Yea verily I did it of my own accord, tempted by another manufacturer, yet I do not regret my course of action ... about a week ago I bought a 2003 Ducati 749S (scuba yellow) and after delivery, rode it last Friday (March 24) for about an hour. I still love my TBA, but who says you can't love another! Wheeehaaa! Valentino, look out! :-)

And I suppose the rest of the story might be interesting...my (soon to be) ex-wife gets the 1998 Ducati 900SS/CR (Supersport) (sad story; you've probably heard it before), but after riding the '98 Duc for only 4 rides, I picked up a 2003 749s at the local shop (MotoPrimo in Lakeville, MN). April 22 is the Flood Run here in the frozen northern midwest -- you know I am going to be having some fun with the locals with this beautiful machine! This is truly a race-track refugee!!!!! What can I say? The Creator of the Universe must love me after all! :-) My faith in our British machines has not wavered, but there's something about these Italian machines that has my red-blooded soul energized again! Sorry for babbling on -- and there is no limit to the thanks that I can provide for the life-giving spirit that this forum provides during these cold harsh winter months confined to 'cages' for transportation....but if it is over 30 degree Fahrenheit tomorrow morning after Ash Wednesday services at 6:30AM, this is my ride to work! Ciao, comrades!

Rock on!!! The Ducati was my other option...but went with the TBA 2 years ago. Think I am to old for the Ducati but still might pick one up someday.

Daniel, Beautiful machine there! I have always liked the Ducati Fly Yellow paint over the ubiquitous red ones. But you REALLY shouldn't have bothered to elaborate about your new found freedom. You see....as soon as I saw the "monoposto" seat, I just KNEW that had DIVORCE written all over it's naugahyde!!! Cheers, and enjoy that beauty, Dwight (now, listen to me kid....NEVER go over 8/10ths on the street....the other 2/10ths is for the RACETRACK ONLY...and THAT puppy was bred there)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hey Daniel I personally don't normally give sports bikes a second look - with one exception and you've bought one.
Have fun and enjoy!

Thanks for chiming in, comrades! I actually did ride it to work today. A little cold (31 degrees F this morning, 38 on the way home) but I'm still grinning ear to ear. I appreciate Dwight's advice about 8/10 street!! Wise words indeed. The benefit of me turning 46 this month is that I don't feel the need to hang out with the younger sportbikers riding faster and faster until one of us runs wide off a corner! I may be older and slower, but I've got grandchildren that are more important than that. :-)

Well, here I am now, late summer, and feeling quite a bit older and younger at the same time. Time to sell this nice machine. Turns out after every ride, I've got a crick in my neck and my shoulders, arms, and fingers tingle for a couple of days. I'm just not as flexible as I need to be. So if anyone wants a nice gently-used Duc, email me. A deal can be worked out.

dd... you found out the hard way. Little vixens like that are great for a couple of glorious months but then our age catches up with us! Reminds me of the old saying "the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak". Bet it was great while it lasted though (that is a great looking bike).
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Hi gang! This weekend I'm hauling this fine specimen of a motorcycle to sell it. Buyer lined up, bit of a roadtrip, but happy to settle the deal. Been riding the TBA to work the past few days now that the last snow has disappeared. Keep the faith! Ciao for now!

As long as we're confessin' -- My Speedmaster will always hold a place dear in me heart, but, when I win Powerball, (and you know I will one of these days) I'll first build a dandy post & beam barn as toy shelter / dog den, then fill it with an assortment of two & four wheeled wonders, some perhaps not under the bless-ed Triumph badge.
Enjoy that new road rocket!

I had to give up sport bikes for the same reason. Below 95mph, there was too much weight on my wrists, they would go numb after 15min.
If you need an Italian mistress, you could always try the Moto Guzzi Jackal. It was my second choice after the SM.
