My wife's America had no front brake this morn. It's been slack for a week or so but today, it just went to the handlebar with no resistance. So... I checked the res. and no fluid so I filled it up with DOT 4.

Still no immediate results... does it take a while to travel down the line? do I need to bleed something?

What?

Any help apprecieated.

regards, m

Yeah, you need to bleed the brake line. You also need to find out how that brake fluid drained out... must be a leak somewhere, I should think.

If there is no leak visible, you might want to check to see how worn your front brake pads are. You typically add fluid as your pads wear out. When you replace the pads and push the pistons back in the caliper, the fluid will fill the reservoir back up and can overflow if some was added.
