I know some of these have been posted but I don't think this page collecting tons of them has...

Great find here, John. Yep, even though I've never been all that much into the hack scene, I have to say I found your link very enjoyable.

Thanks for posting it.

(...and btw, no, just 'cause I mentioned in my response here about my not bein' all that much into the sidecars, does NOT mean my mentioning that is an attempt to make this thread "all about me"!!!)

A very cool post! I'll have to go over it again and save some of the pictures from that, an impressive cross-section of sidecar memorabilia.

Sorry Tom, I wish I could oblige ya here, however with the sidecar setup there and with that actually making the vehicle handle more like a car than as a motorcycle with little to no lean angles, I have to say I have no qualms at all with that car tire up front on that Triumph Trophy. Plus, with the Earles front end on it, which on a sidecar system is usually the way to go because of it greatly eliminating unwanted change in steering dynamics in turns, and stops and starts, I think that wide front tire there just seems aesthetically "correct" to me, also.

And, I have to say I think the design of that sidecar complements the bodywork of that Trophy pretty darn well.

you know, that speech you always give about great handling bikes and what causes their demise. Yeah the car tire helps a SIDECAR handle good. I'm looking at the bigger picture here...haha

Oh, I see what ya mean now.

However, remember at the beginning of this thread how I said I wasn't all that much into sidecars, well that's pretty much the reason. Not only don't they handle the same as a regular motorcycle, but because of the compromises involved in converting them over to a three-wheeled vehicle, they also basically handle worse....as maybe you are aware if you've ever ridden one.

(...at least I think they handle "worse", from the few times I've ever ridden one, anyway)

Can't be any worse than a trike.

Actually it is a little stranger feel than a trike. When set up correctly the bike leans away from the sidecar. It really feels strange, at least it did to me. All your weight is to one side too unless you use a counter weight in the sidecar.

I found this an interesting site since i am considering a Ural Gear Up which is a sidecar rig with 2 wheel drive as well as a reverse gear. I've not driven one yet but i've read up on it. We are considering it for the fun factor & riding in some off road areas (i have a few acres where i live, but i have around 1500 acres in another area of Oklahoma). And to be able to ride around during the winter in the snow, carry the dog in the hack, etc. My wife is actually pushing the idea!

Da, comrade C.J. Ef you thinkink owf thees, theen whatever you do, do NOT ever thinkink owf doink THEES wif you Ural....

Actually, for what it sounds like you're planning to use it for, i.e. running it around on that 1500 acres you have, then I think a Ural/sidecar with the two-wheel drive(dirt only) might be just the thing.

(...just don't go crazy like that dumb Ruskie did in this video!)

I've seen that video! Yes, that is, indeed, dumb...and made me laugh at being so (dumb). I do look forward to raising the hack a bit (notice, i said a bit) through a turn though.
