My America is stuck for the time being with troublesome Metzler Lasertechs, with out going into the details (several posts) I just want to know who is running what and are you happy with them I am looking for white walls, my current sizes are Front: 110/90/18 Back: 170/80/15.

Well Jerry, if it's white walls you're after, Dunlop is the only manufacturer making tires that will fit our bikes. They are the Dunlop K177 (120/90-18) and the Dunlop K555 (170/80-15). The front tire is a bit taller then the stock size, therefore a modification to the front fender bracket is required.
I've run the Dunlops and liked them. They seemed sticky enough without wearing too fast. I'd run them again if it's white walls I want.

I love the IRC Wild Flare for the back and so far the Dunlop 404 on front, both stock sizes. This is my 2nd Wild Flare and one on Wendys bike too.

No, there IS a 18" for the front, as mentioned in my previous post. It is 110/90/18. Just a slight mod to the fender bracket and you're good to go!

Sorry, I was referring to the Avon. I think the tire you mentioned would work for me, if I get my white walls then I think I would remove the front fender. I am not a wet road rider.

I bought Avons, front & rear. NOT HAPPY with the front. Rear is too new to tell yet. handle well, but NO mileage before worn.

That's the beauty of the Metz 880, similar stick as the Avons but much longer tread life. On the other hand the Metz lazertech is rubbish.

I have about 7 thousand miles on a set of avon venoms, mostly back roads with lots of peg scraping. They have been wearing very evenly and show no real signs of bad wear.

Ooo yeah. A nice clean WWW would look good up front there with no fender!

Metzler ME880s front and rear are working very well. I didn't need to mod the Speedmaster front fender at all. Much better than the Lazertec on the front.

Has anyone figured if it is newer Lazertechs or did I just happen to get a rare good tire? Mine wore even and like iron and I never had any wobble at all.

Reboot has a 110/90-18 Metzler ME880 on the front with the stock fender bracket. Handles reel gud too. I only had to use a modded bracket for the 120/90-18.

Mine wore just fine, I even replaced the first one with another.
The ME880 just feels better, the bike falls into the turns much better and just feels more stable.
And since it's a tad larger, the speedo is closer to right. Only about 7% off now.

The Tech told me that the lot that they bought for the late 2010/early 2011 are the problem tires.

Hmmm - where was the tech from? That's the first I've heard someone (other than us) admit there is an issue with the Lasertechs. BTW mine was an 09 so the problems started earlier than 10.

I too have the ME880 marathons front and back, much better than the lazertec. I went thru 3 lazertechs before the change, only wish it had been sooner.

ME880's on front and rear. Developed a wobble over night after about 2500 miles. Unknown reason.
Everyone I know in my area with these tires has this issue with them at around the same mileage. It may have something to do with our really crappy roads. When I go to KC, I marvel at how good the road conditions are.
When they were good, they were good. Hardly any wear after over 5K miles (have to go look to see how many miles they have). Wobble at 40 MPH isn't confidence inspiring.
Now, I have a flat... we'll see what happens.

I got 22,000 miles on the stock Bridgestones that came on my America. I replaced them this year with Metzler ME880 and Lasertec front (110/80-18). Only have a couple of thousand miles on them, but really like them. I guess it's way early to tell about wear, etc.
I decided to stick with the basic same size as stock. These were used on the Speedy through the 2010 year. America actually changed stock to 110/90-18 in 08-10. I like the thinner front tire look as opposed to the fat ones on the new America.

I also have the ME880s front and back. Excellent wear so far. 20,000kms on them. Front still look like new. Rears are 1/2 gone.
