Hi all,
I'd really liked to try install this to my 2009 america.
Does anyone know if it fits and as a task how difficult it would be ?

Ditto. And there are wiring instruction for it in this thread: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...part=2&vc=1

Well, actually I didn't get an absolut guarantee it to fit (talked about electric tacho), but almost. That's why I asked about it in this forum. The wiring instructions link looks really good. I think I'll order one right away.
ps. looks like there's some other interesting mods in the link as well !

Lasse, I have done this install a number of years ago and it is pretty straight forward.
Mounting requires a little fabrication but nothing difficult.
The wiring diagram is pretty easy tapping into the existing wiring harness.

Hi again,.
got the tacho (electronic/ PN 2211-0057/0058) and installed today, but it don't react for throttle. While switch power on, the tacho will do same as speedo, light comes up and the pointer jumps to max limit and sets down waiting, but it wont react on throttle.
(Tried to follow instruction Ronnie had wrote for 2003 america).I used the 2-pin and 3-pin connectors. The 2-pin's red connected to tacho's green(coil), green/red connected to tacho's red(hot) and blue(hot) wires. From 3-pin took the brown and connected to tacho's black(ground).
Now I just wonder could it be the 2-pin's wires should go the opposite way, as looking at an electric chart (service manual) it seems to me like green/red wire (chart nbr 49 GR --> nbr 15/14 coils R) has connection to coils ?!
All help/advice appreciated!

After further investigating looks like the problem is that the 12pin connector under console don't deliver signal to o 2pin tacho-connector's red wire. It seems 12pin incoming wiring don't include signal from coils. Detaching the console leaves only 2 connectors, 12pin for console lights and a 6-pin connector that's not used at all. Does anyone recognise this 6pin, what's it's used for? It has numbered pins 1 to 6. Pls have a look at the 1st pic here:

Hi, probably not as I got an exact match to that a connector on right side below tank, a black connector with exact match on wire codes: nbr 1 purple,2 bluered,3 bluewhite, 5 bluered, 6 black.
The 'mystic' one above the tank has 6 wires: purple, black, red (nbr 3), 2 times green-red and blue.

Hi,
I've got info that the 6pin is new type tacho connector. The wiring diagram shown in earlier message don't match with my bike. The 6pin's red wire or the blue wire might give the rpm.. would you by chance know any easy means of checking it out ?

Status update. No luck with the 6pin tacho-connector, could be I just couldn't find right combination. Next step removed the tank and found out cdi was not there but behind battery But I don't know if it's possible to make pin#9 connection for this type connector (america -10). So now I wonder as last attempt to connect to coils negative terminal (DS installation pdf). Can anyone help to figure out how to do it ? There seems to be a plastic cover infront of coils and had to take it out before reach the wires..

Like you, Hude, I can/could not make the DS tach work on my 2010 America (efi, elec. speedo). With warranty remaining and a strong fear of frying the ECU, I decided not to poke into the wiring from the ECU.
Factory tach ordered-should arrive by the weekend.
A barely used (< 90 days old) white face DS tach will soon appear in the classifieds for $50 shipped (lower 48). Will work on pre-2010 models without EFI and with cable speedo.

Ok, I'll wrap this project up now and leave it wait for next winter . Not willing to remove the tank twice in a row, though it was easier than expected, thanks for the good forum guides to do it.
As a summary, I tried to connect tacho's green wire to coils black wire (0V), but it didn't bring tacho live. The other black-red wire had 12V. I still wonder what DS inst guide says .. connect to coil's negative terminal. Did I think it wrong way ? The one to distributor is negative ?
As a novice it's been a good learning project, but today I'd order the OEM tacho.
