That was a quick decision! I'll be interested to see how different you think the engine is compared with the 790cc - less power but more torque according to Triumph.
Are you keeping the America as well?

Hey Simon
Yes I'm keeping the America.
The Scrambler feels SO MUCH faster I couldn't believe it.
70mph is there in the blink of an eye.
I went back this afternoon for another ride and couldn't stop smiling.
I was overtaking VERY easily where I wouldn't with think of it with the America (or at least need a bit more time).
I got the bike for list with off-road pipes included (£300) which sound bloody great!
I'm also getting the bash guard, alarm / imobiliser (I know, I know but the insurance guys like 'em!), Optimate3 and they're taking off the AI and fitting the kit jobby thing for £350.
Discounted stuff plus free labour, not too bad I thought.
My plans are that this will be my 'summer' bike.
It's such a giggle though, I'll use it quite a bit I think

Sweet. If I had a spare £6k knocking around I could be tempted. But I think I'd be more tempted to give the dealer £6k and the Speedy and ride away on a Rocket Especially when my local dealer has (or did have recently) an ex-demo Rocket which I could ride away for £5k and my Speedy... The Scrambler does look nice though. Should we start calling you Steve (McQueen) from now on?

I'm jealous. Put a 16 tooth sprocket on your America, and it'll feel about as fast as that Scrambler. I guess with the lower food bills, you can afford another bike. So when can I expect the crate to show up?

Seriously, it handles bloody great. This is probably why I'd say it's a 'street going looky likey off-road bike'. I've never done any off-roading so with more agressive off-road tyres, who knows? If it's as good off-road as it is on, it'll be a real fun bike!

Seriously you should try it. Cheap mod over here, only $20 for a sprocket from Brent.

Adey...TERRIFIC, Dude! By this time I'm sure you know how much I like that bike too. Benny, I'd say those tires will grip just fine. On my '70 Streettracker I have a set of old Avons which are "dual purpose"(slightly knobby), and I've worn down the outside edges of the footpegs by leaning that puppy over into turns on the asphalt. So I'd say that with the modern compound tires that are on Adey's new love, he won't have any problem at all with adhesion on the road. Cheers, Dwight

Nearly but not quite. I decided on the diet a couple of years ago! Started last Tuesday I saw the Scrambler on Saturday morning ... Took me until yesterday afternoon to decide I was having it as I'm getting a new car on Thursday too. *gulp* Hell, it's only money (I'll try that when the bank manager calls shall I? )

Does a 16 t sprocket really make that much difference?? I might try that.
Triumph Scrambler Diablo Red & Silver (2014), Arrow Exhaust, FI remapped with TTP #4, 16 tooth sprocket, Triumph Gel Solo seat & Rack, Progressive 440 1" lowered Shocks, SAI & O2 Removal, Airbox Restrictor Plate removed.

I've done the 16, 17, and 18, and yes I can feel the difference in off the line acceleration, and everything up to 4th gear. Like I said to Adey, it's only $20 + shipping from Brent....cheap mod to try. If you do most of your riding around town, or a heavy populated country like England, I'd recommend it. But if you do a lot of freeway riding, you'll probably want to stick with a 17 or 18. If you do a big bore kit and carbs, you won't need a 16 tooth unless you want to get the front wheel off the ground.

I can see that Mad's Triumph is a real one, as the foot break is on the left side.....
And so much for Adey's returning to Arizona in the near future, as he's spent all his pounds, er...Euros. Congrats on your new Scrambler, good chap!

Adey,
Now you know what I was talking about last year regarding the 05 SM feeling faster (which has the same engine and similar specs). Also, this new bike should be additional motivation to lose the weight that you are attempting (in order to enjoy the off-roadish capabilities more). Well done, enjoy!

Are you kidding, I'd have had to wait a week for a red one!!
I fancied the red but after standing looking at the blue for a while (and it was mine for the having!!) I decided on that.

I was on the British Airways website just last night looking at September availability ... Arrive Sky Harbour September 4th for 2½ - 3 weeks?? Just checking with my friend her schedule. Derek's idea of shipping the Scrambler out there is still at the back of my mind

I wouldn't have minded stumbling across the transit they left behind. £1.3m or something!!

Adrian, So you're bringing this thing to the States to break it in, right? Be sure to stop by here - there are some things I've wanted to try on the new scrambler, but can't afford one of my own - yet.

Got my Scrambler last week. The more I ride it the better it feels. Goes way better than I heard everyone talking about. Kept riding it in the torque zone but have now realised after a few miles that it does go way beyond that. Handles well and goes 0-60 real quick. Those who have not riden one and have complained about the elusive lack of performance they have read about, should put down their bag of cheeseys, get off the couch, try one then have an opinion. Go buy one!

Very nice Adey, just watch those new tyres on the damp roads especially those fairly aggressive treads. Thought you must be out somewhere with no response to the threads in "board changes" Staying out all day? a trip around the middle counties should see it back in at tea time to get the 500 service out of the way and then really ENJOY it.
