Hey all,
Have just spent the last couple months doing the stealth wiring and got out last Sat. for a very brief COLD ride
I seem to be running very flat at the lower rpms or first third of throttle. AI removed, 1 baffle and 3 -3/8" holes in the 2nd baffle. about 4 or 4 1/4 out. Good idle, but no pickup out the gate. I'm guessing I've got to rejet, any suggestions?

I think you're out to far on the air screws. Turn them in to 3.5 to see if it helps. You may get some decel popping but the flat spot should go away. If that happens you'll need to re-jet.

I had it set up like this before I took it in for service, no popping on decel, didn't seem nearly as flat as now.
But when I got it back from service they had turned mixture back in to 2 on one side and even less on the other. I rolled them out to current but didn't get too much riding before winter shut down. Didn't stabilize fuel, but neither did I last year with no problem. I have a lot of learning to do. If they are too far out, I'm running too rich?

3.5 turns is about the limit on the pilot screws, more than that doesn't do much, if anything.
I'd pull the plugs and check them for color - anything in the "brown" family is acceptable. Gray to white is too lean, and dark brown to black is too rich. If they're dark, try pulling the snorkel(s) out if you haven't already.
If you do decide to re-jet, 130 mains seem to be the best size with modified pipes and snorkels removed. Synchronizing the carbs may help as well.

Thanks guys. I really should have pulled the plugs long before this, but it has run very nicely before the service,
Especially since I put the vacuum crossover tube on after removing the AI, that smoothed the idle and if I recall killed the decel pop I had. I was thinking 130's... based
on Pat's comparison site.

I was running 130's with modified pipes and snorkles removed. Ran pretty well. I may still have them if you want em.

Absolutely, That would be great. By the way I used to live in Rocky Point When I worked at SUNY. Are you out that way.
Ever get up to CT? Shall I pm you an address?

PM away... I live right near Rocky Point actually. One of my favorite short rides is up Patogue/Yaphank road, to rocky point, then over and down some other road I forget the name... Kinda makes a figure 8, goes thru a sod farm, and thru some of that national forest area.

I have a friend near New London, that where you are? I used to live in Worcester, MA, so I know the area pretty well.

I pulled the plugs last night and they are not tan. Greyish under florescent light. That's lean, yes? Need fuel? Rejet?
There was a web page I printed (in black and white) and using that as a guide, they seem to be good or too hot or lean but good. #'s 19,& 23 seem to be the closest to what I saw. http://www.dansmc.com/Spark_Plugs/Spark_Plugs_catalog.html

Uh-oh, did I miss something here? What is this crossover all about? Does it matter if I use the forward (engine side of the rubber tube) or rear pair of nipples? What does it do for the engine?

I don't think it matters which one. Smooths out idle.
