The little narrow, raised plastic bar, that is right between the shut motor off red button on top of control ass. and the black starter button right below it. I never notice this little [looks like its cocked up on the rear end of it]Triumph logo.. . What the heck is it for. pictures take to long,

I think it's to fill the hole left when they stopped putting light switches on (on/off switch)

I think in Europe they have a light switch to turn off the headlight? And here it is a federal law to have headlight on all the time so they just put a cover on the existing hole for the U.S. market

I ride all my old bikes with the headlight off and had low beam blow on my SM and rode better than a season with the light off except at night by leaving it on low beam until I needed it and no cop bothered me.I finally remembered it was out when I was in a place I could get the bulb and fixed it now.

Nah, no off switch for us either. Maybe they're still allowed to switch them off in the far east? Or nobody's got around to not putting the hole in?

I would love to get a hold of one of the original switches. That would be a great place to install a garage door opener switch.

This topic has come up about once a year since this site started up. There probably are folks in Britain with original standard Bonnies that have light switches. The Jack Lilley dealership in Britain stocked them in 2003. I tried to bribe them and they still wouldn't sell me one.
