I just had my 2003 america in to my shop not a triumph shop, I live 125 miles from the nearest one. it was missing sometimes mostly in the morning. He said it was not firing on the right side and after he took it apart and put it back together it worked. I rode it 4 times and now back to same problem. any ideas?

sounds like maybe coils or plug wire breaking down. Don't assume CDI just yet. Although I am worried about that. If it is CDI go Procom not Triumph. I think they may sell the coils too.

Could be a coil down, try swopping the coils. itf it is go "Nology", not Triumph ones.... If it persists checkout the CDI option from Procom as already said.

I have been hearing the Procom does not work well at low RPMs, Personally I would go OEM if that is the case since I love the bottom end power.

You can ohm test the spark plug wires. Testing the coils is inconclusive. Recent experiences with coil failures didn't parallel your plight.

Known symptoms of coil failures (Chy can chime in anytime ):

1. You start burning a plug every 2000 miles.
2. Shut off at idle. The bike runs fine until warmed up.
3. Stumble off idle under load. After 50ish miles.

Borrowing a friend's CDI is a common trouble shooting technique.

But thanks doesnt sound like a coil failure

Wouldn't say not running on both sides it was running more like STUMBLING and missing & low on power..it Just did it to me and the way home from work (which is like 12 mile ride) pulled over reached under the tank and wiggled the plug to the CDI til it came back to life . SO is it the CDI?? or could it be the plug its self maybe?? can you just replace the plug or am I reaching here and its a BAD CDI and just order a PROCOM ??

Did see Pinwall cycles has some salvage CDIs or would the PROCOM CDI unit be better??..

ANY help would be great!! Thank You

Update : did it again on the way to work but this time I reach down wiggle the spark plug near the coil and that fixed it..Wounder if last night while messing with the cdi I hit the spark plug wire..so anyways going to order some new coils and wires and see if that helps. If not then I will try the Procom CDI...all else fails sorry I will be looking really hard at that Victory High Ball for sure then!
